An Australian woman has been raped while a knife was held to her throat during a violent robbery at the villa where she was staying with family in Bali.
The 28-year-old from Perth was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning after being woken by an intruder who had entered her room at Villa Damais in Kerobokan.
Details of the horrific assault emerged on Monday with the woman telling police she was first forced to open a safe in her room, before being raped while a knife was held to her throat.
The attack occurred as seven other members of her family, including children, slept in adjacent rooms.
All have since returned to Australia.
"The victim was then threatened with knife by the perpetrator," a spokesman with the North Kuta police, Reinhard Habonaran Nainggolan, told AAP.
"His right hand held the knife while his left hand held a flashlight.
"She was under threat of knife that she could not make a sound."
Fucking Bali.
A cash machine withheld my debit card over there a few weeks back, usually the banks destroy it when that happens. But somehow someone got a hold of my card from inside the ATM and emptied my bank account before I could declare the loss.

Where's the BS detectometer vote icon? I smell a lie.
Cmon now, don't blame Bali...
Ok, either something's up with all these recent rapes, or people are just more "daring" these days.

It's the media trend atm for the news to report overseas rapes after all that shit in India then a university professor was raped in the Philippines
Bali is a great tourist destination and everyone should go there.

It's a beautiful island with friendly locals, yes.
But many of those locals are also trying to sleaze you often or sell you dodgy drugs.
The tourists are just as bad (I'm thinking Aussies in particular).
Even my travelling group, you can imagine a load of drunk students with a villa...
And do you really think I'm lying? I'll pm you proof if your well honed BS nose calls me a liar again, which I don't take kindly to.
The bank statements all lead to debit payments in Bali, first thing they got were 200$ nikes :v:

If anything, it's making my head scream "Don't take your family to India".
Probably just the human brain being the human brain I guess.
Bali is nice if you stay way from the shit areas.
The more rural areas for example, are really really nice filled with very friendly people.
Hell, when I went there, our hotel was in Kuta and we probably spent more time out in the country than we did there.
Was this legitimate rape?
Was this legitimate rape?
What else would it be?
I mean, somebody might like it with a knife on their neck, but why the hell would it be in the news, then?

It's not like it's unheard of for people to replace keypads or parts of ATMs to get hold of your details.
Was this legitimate rape?
No, this was obviously fake rape.
Was this legitimate rape?
Yes the rapist had his cert approved by the relevant officials before his horrible act
Bali is a great tourist destination and everyone should go there.
Because rape cases are an unheard of thing in the western world.
Idiot.
Was this legitimate rape?
Someone probably put a Lebanese Loop in the machine.
"In its simplest form, it is a strip or sleeve of metal or plastic which blocks the ATM's card slot, causing any inserted card to be apparently retained by the machine, allowing it to be retrieved by the fraudster when the card holder leaves."

what
you think it's bullshit?
when I went to bali back in 2010/11 my parents debit cards had about 12,000$ combined stolen from them.
[editline]29th April 2013[/editline]
not the card however.
So glad I'm staying in a hotel and not a villa while in Bali. Normally it's safe for women as long as they stay with some guys and don't do anything stupid like walk around by themselves in the middle of the night or go to dodgy places. However when someone breaks into a villa, I guess what can you do?
Bali is a great tourist destination and everyone should go there.
It actually is, me and my family went there for a week and it was fantastic.
The last time I was there I caught a caterpillar, went to a restaurant, and those fuckers waiters threw it into the ocean.
Fuck that
