KNTV - Monica Salazar left her car running in front of Campbell, California apartment. The next thing she knew, it was gone. Salazar went through a roller coaster of emotions: anger, frustration and sadness. "I was distraught. I was hurt," she said. "I was like, beating myself up because how stupid could I be you know? But then I'm like, how could somebody do that?" Salazar knew the odds of getting her 2004 Scion back were not great, but she remembered leaving her cell phone in the car. With nothing to lose, her sister decided to text Monica's phone. One of the messages: "Can you please return the stolen car?" This thief seemed to have a conscience. He called Monica back and told her where to find her car. She found it parked outside of a Santa Clara KFC. "In the middle of this chaos and the confusion, something happened in this man. Whether it was what I said, my sister said, the text, something happened. He didn't have to return it," she said. The car means the world to Monica. She calls her vehicle "Gloria," named after her mother, who recently passed away. She keeps a picture of her mother and sister in the visor and has CDs with her mom's favorite songs on them. Losing the car would have been devastating. "He returned it. It's in one piece. And I just hope he's okay wherever he's at," Monica said.
D'aw. Stuff like this makes me happy and gives me some hope for humanity.
Keep in mind he still stole the car. At least the guy realized his actions affect others.
How seamlessly he had a change of intentions reminds me of Swiper the Fox. It's not too often that a thief will change their mind so easily.
Guilt can make anyone change their mind.
The world needs more criminals like this one! Ideally at cost of the regular criminals we have now.
The world needs more criminals like this one! Ideally at cost of the regular criminals we have now.
"Hey uh... would you stop robbing this bank" "Oh... okay...."
She found it parked outside of a Santa Clara KFC.
Gee, I wonder whole stole it.
Fuck the bitch and her car, should have ignored the message and moved on. Would have been $x.xx richer.
"Hey uh... would you stop robbing this bank" "Oh... okay...."
"Can you please un-murder my child?" "oh uh okay" (the murderer turns out to be a necro-mancer)
"Can you please un-murder my child?" "oh uh okay" (the murderer turns out to be a necro-mancer)
That sure was lucky that the mass child murderer was also a necromancer.
Maybe he was like James Bond or something and needed a car to chase after a bad guy and was going to give it back all along.
Gee, I wonder whole stole it.
I'll return the car after I get some damn chicken.
Someone took my flash drive after I accidentally left it alone for an hour Why can't this happen to me? :saddowns:
naa batman already got the thief, he was the one to text her back :v:
Someone took my flash drive after I accidentally left it alone for an hour Why can't this happen to me? :saddowns:
Because you can't text your flashdrive.
A fine white gentleman of course.
are you implying only white people will return stolen property [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] racist
usually people who steal stuff don't do it because they are evil but they do it out of desperation.
EDIT: Oops wrong thread. Been a long time since I did that.
He just needed the car for a quick visit to KFC.
Most likely an opportunistic thief who realised what they'd done when they got the text.
Hunger can drive anyone to thievery
her 2004 Scion
He was doing her a favor.
What a cool guy
The world needs more criminals like this one! Ideally at cost of the regular criminals we have now.
Don't worry ma'am I'll resurrect your husband that I just killed a few hours ago, right away!
usually people who steal stuff don't do it because they are evil but they do it out of desperation.
Yea definetly, my friend got kicked out of home for a few months when he was 15 and told me he was involved in an armed house robbery and also mugged someone, he said he felt terrible and hated doing it but it was out of desperation.
