Al Qaeda is plotting to massacre huge numbers of civilians in Britain and other western countries, the head of Mi5 has warned.
Andrew Parker, director general of the security service, told a select group mostly from the Royal United Services Institute at his London headquarters that while the so-called Islamic State is the newest threat to the West and that self-started lone wolf plots are hard to foil, al Qaeda still has ambitions for something more spectacular.
They are known to be led by Muhsin al Fadhli, an expert bomb maker wanted by the FBI who has a $7m price on his head. He moved to Syria two years ago and was unsuccessfully targeted in a coalition air strike last year.
It is also known that British citizens are in the ranks of al Qaeda in Syria and could be used in a major atrocity back home.
The domestic spy chief spoke hours after the UK's COBRA committee ordered a boost to national security.
"There is a particular increased threat to police officers at the moment and there have been a number of attacks foiled in differed parts of the country, but I can tell you that our officers are very concerned about it… they see what happened in France, and clearly we are an unarmed police force but it is the nature of that threat which is worrying but despite that our officers go out there and do their duty."
Let's hope these are just threats from a terrorist organisation trying to stay relevant.
Piss off, you barbaric cunts.
There's been so many Syria related arrests here in birmingham though anyone of them that comes back is probably planning something.
I'm just worried some have slipped through the net
Europe was being pretty good at the entire tolerance and surpassing-extremist-moods-against-Muslims things, but Al Qaeda and similar are now apparently trying really hard to change that.
Dammit, I should have stayed in Estonia!
plz Al Qaeda, ill convert to allah, do not come to Bournemouth
it's cool I don't go anywhere important so I'll be fine at least
I'd like to see them try.
I wouldn't??
It's only a matter of time. This will just get worse and worse.

Sod "Scotland's newspaper of the year", that's Scotland's headline of the century.
These terrorist can fuck off. Every time a terrorist murder someone, ISLAM gets the blame. We Muslims are tired of your terrorist shit. Extremist is ruining Islam.
I mean if every moderate Muslims and Non Muslims can unite and rise up against anti-social terrositic behaviors, the world would be a safer place.
I'd like to see them try.
em...7/7...
Hopefully they'll not do it now that we've ruined the surprise.
The sad thing is that terrrorist organizations of any kind need to do actual attacks from time to time if they want to stay revelant. It's just a matter of funding. Noone is gonna give them money for making empty threats or bragging about their new stealth bombs made of shit.
Saying we're an unarmed police force is a bit rich when there's been problems up here in Scotland with firearms officers going out on patrol with their weapons.

This is so transparent it hurts.
Al Qaeda, just fuck off already. Everyone hates you.
Kill yourself Al Qaeda, do the world a favour.
they do, with bomb vests.
Unfortunately we're starting to see an increase in irrational hate against Muslims, particularly on the internet, by people who fail to realise that these terrorists don't represent the actions of the world's 1.6 billion Muslims.
maybe all the terrorist organistions should do battle in the middle of nowhere to see who is best
Trying to recapture the old glory ISIS nabbed from them or what?
Unfortunately we're starting to see an increase in irrational hate against Muslims, particularly on the internet, by people who fail to realise that these terrorists don't represent the actions of the world's 1.6 billion Muslims.
But of they started standing up against the radicals then these things wouldn't happen as frequent. I'm sure that many muslims know the radicals.

Maybe it's just where I am, but ISIS and all that (ISIS being the more relevant recently) tends to get spoken about at my school and anyone who's willing to say anything on the topic knows the different between a Muslim and nutter.
Could be because a guy in my form is actually a genuine Muslim (apparently not just family make him say he is and stuff) and he's a really down to earth cool guy. Of course some people are surprised to find out he's Muslim, but that's really because there are around 5 people in a year of 150 that believe in any sort of god regardless of what god they actually believe in.

This. Can we have this pasted on forums everywhere? Seeing the difference and disposing of ignorance can go a long way. With the internet becoming more popular as a source of information and free speech, people are going to get the wrong idea very quickly and it's going to spread.
I think it's not gonna happen. With the attacks in France going on, I think Britain is more than ready to retaliate.
It's the government trying to push for more powers and leeching of the fear from Paris.

Do you have even a shred of evidence to support that claim?
Do you have even a shred of evidence to support that claim?
No, but is it even that unlikely?
The problem is tha suchattacks are going to cause resentment against Islam, reguardless if it's Islamic State, Al Qaeda or whoever else is doing it. Reguardless of the attacker, that will build up resentment over the religion on the whole, either it be blind rage, fear or something else. And out of retaliation for being attacked themselves, certain people will end up being radicalised because they feel they are the ones being attacked and the whole damn cycle continues.
What the hell can you do?
