While the Yamagishi home escaped devastation - unlike the rest of the town - their cat was nowhere to be seen. The couple searched for Suika for three months before giving up hope. But on 10 April another couple spotted a black cat curled up in a nearby pine forest. He was friendly and wore a collar, and they took it to the Ofunato Health Centre. After several days nobody had claimed the cat, so the centre put an announcement in a local paper. It was when an employee was taking a photo of the cat that he noticed the Yamagishi name and number in faded letters on the collar. "Where have you been?" Kazuko Yamagishi asked her long-lost pet when they were reunited. "It's just like a dream," she said. It is not clear how Suika survived the ordeal, but a bell on his collar suggests someone else took care of him while he was away.
KITTY!

How surreal must that feel?
8 lives left.
Wow he looks euphoric
finally that family can finish the dinner they started so long ago
jesus.. I thought it was some giant cat for a moment. Why can't they take wholesome photos any more :(
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
that look on that cats face "ive seen some shit bro." [editline]12th May 2014[/editline]
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
cats arent as fucking heartless as youd think
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
My cat jumps into my arms when I come home excuse you sir. Cats have a different way of showing love. Just because they don't jump all over you and slobber on your face doesnt mean they don't love you.
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
My cat's a loyal little thing that follows me around the house and runs to see me when I get home. Cat's care, they're just independent spirits.
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
i sometimes wonder what goes through the minds of people when they type up something as stupid as this.
my cat sits on the back part of a sofa and whacks anybody who walks by
My cat went outside one day when it was sick (on my birthday :c) and didn't come back. We thought he went out to die because he's a very old cat. He came back exactly one month later, somewhat thinner and lighter. He was so happy to see me I couldn't sleep that night because he insisted on sleeping next to my face, and didn't stop purring.
Not as much d'aw as when a dog reunites with their owner. Unlike cats, dogs actually care.
As if we need anymore evidence but... My cat cries loudly if she can't find anyone in the house. She gets very sad and a little scared. She can't stand being away from us for very long, and usually when she sleeps, she chooses a spot where she's pretty close to someone. And whenever we come home from vacations, she becomes very happy and excited to see us, meowing like a maniac and rubbing all over our legs, and when we finally sit down after unpacking, she is glued to our sides like a magnet, purring madly. But what do I know! She's not a dog, so, it's obviously just a coincidence, and she doesn't care because she's just a cat, right?? On topic to the article: That's some heartwarming stuff. I can't imagine what loosing your pet feels like, and I DEFINITELY can't imagine what it feels like to be re-united with them after so long when you're sure they're gone for good. But the love someone has for their pet is like no other, I can attest for that. Even if I lost the roof over my head and all my possessions from a disaster, as long as my little kitty is still there by my side I would still be happy.
Holy shit, when the tsunami hit there was a picture floating around of a little black cat stranded in the waves on like a rock or building or something. I'm going to pretend this is the same cat and that whole thing had a happy ending.

I found my cat Penny stuck in some debris after a massive tornado hit Austin, Texas way back when. His owners were nowhere to be seen. He was the chillest cat, almost never mowed but purred like a machine gun the instant you touched him. He was also supernaturally attuned to laser pointers and would leap out of any position, regardless of how lazy he felt, and chase that red dot. RIP you fat fuck :(
Wow its been three years since the tsunami?
To be fair it is sort of true..
And you base this off that video. Wow, cats are different from dogs and both are different from human babies, what shocker. And that one cat symbolizes the entire feline species. All cats are different, all dogs are different, all humans are different, stop saying things are true because a dozen of things happened to you or your friends when there are billions of others that experience otherwise as well.

this story made me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. i'd hate to lose my cats :(
Definitely read that as car.
I had a cat that would run off for a few weeks and fight other cats/get laid then come home for a few weeks. Rinse and repeat. I've had him for about 6 years, then he ran away one night but didn't come back, and out of nowhere 4 years later he shows back up somehow. He was sick though, and died about a month later. I guess he came home to die I don't know, but I fucking loved that cat and I really think he felt the same, he was great.
To be fair it is sort of true..
cats are very independent and curious creatures, unlike babies and dogs. of course they'll show attachment in a completely different way. that said, all cats are different. I have 3 cats, and they all show attachment to us in different ways. one of them is very obvious about it and wants attention much like a dog, the other one is more subtle but follows us around and prefers to sleep while any of us is nearby. the last one is very calm and prefers to be by himself, but still enjoys the occasional petting.
To be fair it is sort of true..
I hate dogs as a pet because they're too full-on, and make me feel like I need something that unconditionally loves me when I'm fine as I am. Feels like cheating respect from an animal because dogs even love their owners that abuse them and would act excited when they see them again. Cats on the other hand are awesome and chill as fuck. I get home, cat kinda looks over at me and makes a weird (not meow) sound, more like "Mewww" real softly like acknowledging me and goes back to sleep. Then when I go to bed she jumps up on me and curls up next to my chest and sleeps with me, and even goes as far as to wake me up by whacking me in the fucking face when my alarm goes off. She's great, and doesn't get separation anxiety or complain like a dog. then again that's just me
Yeeaah that's just you. As said before, all pets are different. It depends on how they've been raised, their breed, what they're eating + how much they get to eat, how much attention they get, etc. But even then, it also heavily depends on their personality, which you can't just go in and change just like that. Some cats will be mean no matter what, some cats will be lazy, some cats will constantly demand attention, and so on. Same goes for just about all pets. I've had a couple of different dogs. One had somehow made his way over a fence and across town, just to wait for me outside a bakery store, when I had left him at home. Another was really playful, but would try and bite strangers, so we had to keep her mostly indoors and in our courtyard. A third would just lie about and lazily sleep all day.
