Taking place entirely aboard a massive futuristic aircraft, CONSORTIUM is a first person science-fiction role-playing experience unlike any other. The story begins in our world - the "real world" - where we here at Interdimensional Games have developed a satellite (iDGi-1) capable of opening a digital rift through time and space...
Anyone with an internet connection can travel through this rift and awaken within an alternate dimension from our own - the "game world" - in the year 2042.
Immerse yourself in an interactive story taking place entirely aboard the C-3800-D "ZENLIL" Consortium Command vessel on December 21st, 2042...
Engage with a cast of over 20 people in innovative and life like conversation. Over 4,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue, each choice changes how they think about you. Or choose not to engage with them at all and never speak a word!
Act as detective investigating an on-board murder, while simultaneously playing peacemaker to a large band of mercenaries who seem to want YOU dead. Or play diplomacy with a smoking barrel, and let the tragedies continue to mount.
The story unfolds based largely on your actions. You may use diplomacy and talk your way through the entire game - never shooting anyone! OR, decide to use deadly or non-lethal force.
Forge lasting relationships with the crew of ZENLIL, and alter the course of the story through your actions. Your choices will change your play experience, and subsequent playthroughs offer the chance to make different decisions and see all new outcomes.
Regardless of what you choose to do or not, the experience always moves forward, adapting seamlessly to YOU.
How is this game? Is it any good?
Its free, doesn't matter if its good or not.

I would like to contend with this statement. Time is a precious resource that we as a species don't have a whole lot of. I would like to know that whatever I play will not waste any of it.
This was made on the Source engine wasn't it?
the video for this makes it look like a turd

The video doesn't do the game justice to tell you the truth, it's a fun story oriented sci-fi adventure game with quite a bit of replayability due to the fact you can do things differently each playthrough.
The combat is pretty basic all things considered but like games like Undertale the game isn't about the combat, it's about the characters and the story.
I don't get why developers put up trailers which just shows how super laggy the game is, in the trailer you see a segment where the player is shooting and it runs at like 5 FPS.
I tried the game just then and its pretty mediocre, played it for like 15-30 minutes though since it just felt very empty.
Played for like an hour so far. It's not super fancy but I like it.
Not bad, some oddities I've noticed but it seems like it could be good fun.

I have to say though, it makes me feel like I'm playing a David Cage game, just without the quick-time events. I'm just waiting for an awkward sex scene between the Bishop and one of the Rooks.
Also if anyone is wondering why they are releasing this game for free now, It's because they have a sequel that's going to be going on Kickstarter called Consortium: The Tower.

Yeah, it was
I played and beat Consortium a long while back. I'd very much recommend this game if you are into mystery type games and don't mind a lot of reading. And there is a LOT of reading as far as the lore goes. The game itself does have a lot of replay value but I didn't find myself wanting to go back and play it. If you do find yourself engrossed enough, you can easily squeeze 25-30 hours out of the game.
For some reason the videos try to market it as an FPS. But that's not really the main focus of the game as, like I said, it's more about character interaction and the story itself.
My only complaint is how open they left the ending for a sequel. I also find it kinda weird that they've been working on game 2 for over a year but crowdfunding for the game has only just started.
Oh and yes this was made on Source.

Honestly its great in my opinion. This is how you have to use kickstarter.

I think reading back at then that since the sales of the game were low, they would eventually need a kickstarter.
Played it through yesterday, honestly surprised on how much I liked it.

Well the second and third games are supposed to be a lot bigger and better, so I'm not surprised that they need one. They probably undershot their budget. I don't think Consortium was ever really marketed enough to come across as a well-selling game. I happened upon it by chance when I was bored one day looking for something to play through the "Top x RPG games you should play today!" lists or whatever.
That being said their delivery date is expected on June 2017 so they still have quite awhile to go in terms of development. Hopefully all this time will produce a really well polished game
I played this, it's a compelling little game, but then I got wind of the ARG behind it and boy, does it go deep. In the game files there's a 'discoveries' folder that has PDFs (one with 140 pages!) that sum most of the ARG up to the game's release anyway. It's mindblowing how much writing has gone into the game. Even the terminal in the game has dozens of lengthy articles.
I really dig it, feel like I've hardly scratched the surface. Hope they pull off the sequel!
Definitely worth a try, i certainly enjoyed my time with it. A few framerate issues, but I'm sure that can be patched out. I'll wait to see if the sequel is any good once some solid gameplay footage shows up, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
