The son of motorsport legend John Surtees has died after being hit on the head by a wheel during a Formula 2 (F2) race at Brands Hatch in Kent.
Henry Surtees, 18, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital after he was struck by a wheel which flew off Jack Clarke's car.
Sunday's race was red flagged while Surtees was removed from the scene.
His father won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1964 having previously won seven motorcycle world titles.
So sad to see a promising young athlete's life cut so short.

Do you know how many people die in a MINUTE? Just because more people that are known are dying means nothing, wake me up when ALL the people that are well known die.

When they all die you'll most likely be dead too.
I saw this live. Man, they really need to make the tethers that keep the wheels from flying off stronger.
Here's the video of the incident.

In case you didn't know, fat people can't professionally drive a racecar. F1 drivers in particular face 3g's+ in 200 mph turns. So you kinda have to be fit, or you'd pass out.
He drove a car.
Drive a car at high speeds around a track for an hour and a half and see how that goes. Your whole body will be sore as fuck.
Must have done some damage to kill after the incident? Not much details were given. Guess they should consider windshields or wheel tethers.
Must have done some damage to kill after the incident? Not much details were given. Guess they should consider windshields or wheel tethers.
They do have wheel tethers, which are obviously not strong enough. And he was hit right in the head with a large tire.
Dieing in 09' must be the new trend
Now if only Jack Thompson where to catch on....
Sadly, he won't.

Go kart racing for once. I mean real kart racing, not the lame amusement park ones. Those things aren't close to the races you will get in real Formula cars (although they are considered very similar in terms of G-forces and acceleration but on a smaller scale). You will be sore. I race occasionally, and the first time the underside of my arms were pretty sore as well as my back.
Seriously, try it or else you will just continue to spew out ignorant comments trying to be witty or some other shit.

Also this reminds me of the Tom Pryce crash in '77. He also got hit in the head, except by a fire extinguisher.
