This is a fabulous thing.) Some of you may remember the [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=805238]old version I had made of Index of /[/url] back in 2009. It run off the idea of finding those root directories of random sites, and the associated mystery you feel along with exploring them. The old version used FTP accounts, I had to custom create every account, and it was very cumbersome. Well, I recently started working on my own website some more, and decided it was about time I learned PHP--and I made this, the updated version of Index of /. [b]So, what's different?[/b] Well, now you can create an account with the site, simply create your own folder (which you can rename later as you will), and then upload text files with wild abandon. The catch is, it's completely anonymous, so you can put anything up there. Of course, there are always things to consider when posting anonymously, especially on a small site like this, so please read further in order to understand the associated risks and whatnot. If you're interested in signing up, the process is now completely automated--which means INSTANT. You can basically upload a text file with anything in it, so long as it's, you know, not illegal, and is original content (or otherwise cited). Math homework, random thoughts, journal entries, essays, to-do lists, everything. Please let me know what you think, and hopefully the fact that it's a much simpler and easier system to use will make sure that it's something that people actually [i]want[/i] to use for a long time--which it totally can be, because text files are small. I hope people can find a use out of this, and they enjoy the service and all that jazz. It took me a while to make, but I'm damn proud of the result. (Also, if you're a code-y type person and can spot out security flaws/errors/optimizing points, please let me know as well because I'm working on my PHP.) 'kay I fixed some folder issues sorting through MySQL: if you made a folder and it didn't register as being under your name (i.e. additional options didn't pop up under manage.php) then please log out and relog in. if further issues persist let me know, but they shouldn't :)

This is really cool, congradulations on getting it pretty much finished and I hope it doesn't go to shit when it gets too popular but that's not important to think about right now, focus on perfecting everything.

Can others post in your folders? If not, add an option to make a folder public or some shit like that.

However, it is possible to still right click > save as, so that works. Also, your talk of a public folder is interesting. That's possible and relatively easy to implement (at least a nonselective public version, i.e. one everyone can upload), and I might think about doing that later.

On the fence about whether or not I should investigate into [i]making[/i] it work, at the moment. :P May talk with my host provider later to resolve the issue, may not. Will have to see; allowing downloads of merely re-extensioned files has some serious abuse possibilities. Regardless, I'm glad you guys are messing around with the system. It's fun to watch. Keep at it if you so desire, and if you so extra desire, pass the website along.
