Nasa's Curiosity Mars rover has been put into "safe mode" after a computer glitch caused by corrupted files. The robot, which is analysing rock samples on the red planet, is now running from a back-up computer. Nasa scientists are looking into possible causes for the files on the robot's flash memory being damaged.

"We have probably several days, maybe a week of activities to get everything back and reconfigured."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21654308
Please no "uploading/downloading" porn jokes and "getting viruses". They are not funny.
Maybe they used cheap SSDs :v:
The martians!
Independence Day. Except this time, Mars is the one uploading the virus to the alien mothership.

Wonder if it was some cosmic rays flipping bits I've heard that is a pretty important issue in extreme environments, data changing that shouldn't [editline]5th March 2013[/editline] Oh. I missed the line in the article where they explicitly mention cosmic rays.
Are the pictures of mars going to be in 32 color mode now?
Aliens

You can count on the transmission being encrypted though, and you'd need a lot of knowlege on Curiosity's internals to make it run your code.
U see if curosity was a mac it wudnt get ny viruses cuz it's bettr den a pc!
Maybe they used cheap SSDs :v:
Welcome to what you should expect with an OCZ SSD. :v:
it was probably a virus from a porno
...rock on rover porn? :v:
Don't worry guys, the rover has dual radiation-hardened computer systems. So if one goes out, the backup can take over and receive the corrections by mission control. Source: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/msl/news/msl20130228.html
Somebody hit Stickykeys
Oh man, I thought Peter Molyneux's game was having server issues. I was really worried for a second there.

Is Curiosity plugged in? Is it's display turned on?
I thought they meant the 22 cans cube..
It'd be fun if they forgot to put it on Safe mode with Networking option :v:
