He keeps drinking that water
He just wants to forget..
gordon's slow transformation into gaben
this was a sneak peek into the hl3 character design process
Genuinely heartbreaking.
Pretty well made.
Gordon looks a bit like an older Rocco Botte
10 years...
god above has it really been that long?
If that guy got in shape, I legitimately think he could play a live-action Gordon Freeman.
Really sad.
They're waiting for you, Gordan..
...We're all waiting, for you.
What I dislike more than the length of the delay is the fact that they barely say anything about why they're delaying it. It's like they're trying to ignore it until we forget it and then that's just something shoved under the rug.
Prepare for unforeseen sadness...
Can he boost the anti-feel spectrometer to 105%, one last time? A bit of a gamble, but...

I know how you feel. We've been waiting so long, and what makes it hurt even more was that it ended on a cliffhanger that set up a lot of things going forward. Eli Vance is dead, Alyx is probably going to have an insane vengeance-fuelled murder-boner against the Combine, the power of the Borealis is waiting to be revealed, Judith is in peril, and we still don't know where Barney is. That said, he was bound to have been far enough away from City 17 to have survived, since he left several minutes before Gordon and Alyx boarded the train, so for all we know he actually did arrive at White Forest after you fended off the Strider assault.
So much set up, and yet not a peep for 7 years. You would think that with the resurgence of great singleplayer FPS in recent years (Shadow Warrior and Wolfenstein: The New Order), now would be a great time for Valve to be working on Half-Life 3. I just hope that if and when it does come out, it is more like Shadow Warrior/Wolf:TNO than Duke Nukem Forever...
it wouldn't surprise me if the writers for half-life were killed by writer's block at the end of 2007
Please release Half-Life 3 Valve. Not only do I really want to play it, but I also want the dank HL3 confirmed memes that people who have never played Half-Life spew out. It's so unfunny it hurts.
I thought the reason why little has been said about half-life 3 was because since the way valve works people pick what project they want to work on and no one has really wanted to work on half-life 3. This was a very well done video though.
It will never come out sadly... singleplayers aren't that trending nowadays, and i think Valve makes plenty money with DOTA 2, CS:GO and TF2.
Still enjoyed the video.

Wait, do you mean the writer's strike of '07-'08? Holy shit I never thought that could have been a factor.
For those who don't remember, apparently from the 5th of November 2007 to the 12th of February 2008, the Writer's Guild of America had a strike in order to increase funding for writers in the various media industries, and whilst it was focused on film, telly and radio, I suspect that many writers in the gaming industry mighta been Guild members as well which would probably explain a fair bit.
Or it could just be the conspiracy theorist in me being reawoken by remembering the late 2000s/early 2010s Valve and their penchant for ARGs. I just wish Valve would have SOMETHING to say on the subject...
Also I have to disagree Riley, especially considering the popularity and critical acclaim of games like Shadow Warrior and Wolf:TNO. Those were good games that (I think) made good money and still do thanks to the Steam Sales, so singleplayer FPS is still far from dead. If anything I hope they'll have a resurgence in the following years, and I know what kind of games I'll be aiming to make after sinking my teeth into simpler projects.

Didn't Marc Laidlaw have the story all written out prior to HL1's release? I seem to recall seeing that in Raising the Bar.
Maybe this year. Maybe this year.

I reckon that Half-Life 3 is going to be the final instalment in the series in all honesty.
Something I keep telling myself, too. I wonder if Valve is going to be at any conventions this year?
It is sort of horrifying to realize that Episode 2 is 7 going on 8 years old.
muh youth :suicide:

Huh. You know, it's going to be a strange feeling what HL3 does come out whenever. Something we've waited for so long finally comes out and it'll probably be the end of the series; I think a lot of us will go "well now what?"
I'm sure Valve will continue to make good games/continue doing big updates but it'll just be a strange feeling after all is said and done.
That "pick up that can" really hit me in the feels
That was very sad, It really makes me wonder why hasn't a fan team taken it under their wing to make a sequel? We have black mesa after all.
They're too busy making a product not many will buy.
