MIDTOWN, NY (PIX11)—
A billboard for the hit television series "Mad Men" has hit a nerve with New Yorkers, especially the families of 9/11 victims who are calling the ad's creators insensitive.
The large rooftop sign at 30th Street and Seventh Avenue shows a man in a suit appearing to tumble out of a window above. The single line of text reads: "March 25," referring to when the new season premieres.
Charles G. Wolf, whose wife Katherine was working on the 97th floor of tower one when she was killed, was upset by what he saw.

"Now that I see it in person, it's like 'oh God,' and they put it right in front of tall buildings, and that is not a cool thing to do,"he told PIX 11 News.
Wolf said it's a painful reminder of all those who jumped to their deaths out of desperation, and that the sign should be taken down.
"I think in deference to the sensitivity of New Yorkers, perhaps they should (remove it)," said Wolf.
AMC, the network which airs "Mad Men," said in a statement: "The image of Don Draper tumbling through space has been used since the show began in 2007 to represent a man whose life is in turmoil. The image used in the campaign is intended to serve as a metaphor for what is happening in Don Draper's fictional life and in no way references actual events."
Cesar Tejada, who works in the area, said the billboard is an example of good advertising because it's made him curious enough about the show to watch it. But he also said it's confusing.
"In a way it's not good, because you see it, and you don't really know what it is. You think different thoughts in your head, like suicide and 9/11," Tejada said.
So creative but so tragic at the same time.
Its been ten years, get over it. Not everything is about September Fucking Eleventh.
It's been so long ago even I forgot what I did on that day. Or anything I did that year.
9/11 was my god damn birthday, and I got over it. Come on, people.
Ironic there's an ad-flop on an ad about ad men making ads.
I often don't look at structures that go several hundred feet up and have glass windows because of the memories I still have of that day.
That's pretty cool.

Telling people to "get over it" is stupid considering the massive loss of life that happened that day.
However people do need to stop associating it with anything remotely similar.

I can't look at people anymore because people were in the twin towers on 9/11 :(
If they tilted him some degrees, I guess that they would be complaining about how comfortable he looks.
While I don't think it's right to tell people to get over it, people need to stop flipping out over anything vaguely related to it, or anything that involves a skyscraper.
snip that was fucking retarded of me
In 1000 years, our descendents will lament the loss of the twin towers.
9/11 was my god damn birthday, and I got over it. Come on, people.
You changed your birthday?
oh no I hear a plane, 9/11!
That's what it seems like now.
god dam islam muslim terrorists again!!!!! murrika 4 lyfe!!!!
get the fuck over it
Considering this is going to be every other post in the thread I probably shouldn't attempt to stop it but here we go.
Saying " get the fuck over it" is an incredible shitty thing to say considering the massive loss of life on that day and especially concerning those who lost family or friends. But people do need to stop associating and being offended by any thing remotely similar.
Looks like Robert De Niro's falling silhouette from the movie Casino

So you're 11 years old?
"When September Ends" by Green Day comes to mind.
Only instead of the normal lyrics I'm thinking "Wake me up when people stop bitching about September."
Don't mean to be insensitive, but we really need to move on.
3000 people died in the same building 11 years ago.
Get over it.
It's been so long ago even I forgot what I did on that day. Or anything I did that year.
I remember where I was. It stuck with me because it was the first time I learned that our classrooms had cable (I had transferred to a new school, my old one didn't, so I was fascinated) and of course for the obvious reason that it was a terrorist attack. And then I couldn't forget because they shoved it down our throats for years.

Yeah. If anything, mourn the fucking people who had to die as a result of us going to the middle east because of Bush's goddamn decision.

Exactly. I couldn't "get over" it if my Wife died in such an incident, but they are just overdoing it.
Also in regards to the ad, that's pretty fuckin' funny

Yeah, well, thousands of people starve to death every day but most people don't bat an eyelash over that. There are people who are born, their entire existence is just starving, then they're dead, that's it, and no one cares.
Yeah. If anything, mourn the fucking people who had to die as a result of us going to the middle east because of Bush's goddamn decision.
I believe he was being sarcastic, Im not sure though. But what if I said the people who had family killed because of those wars should just get over it. Its just a shitty thing to tell someone to get over something that will effect them for the rest of there life.

Come to think of it I didn't know our class room had cable before then as well.
I only watch that show for Christina Hendricks.
9/11 Didn't bother me

i do, i was enjoying a ham sandwich, best sandwich i had in my life.
I'm now scared of looking at other ads, what if they make me think about 9/11. The horror!
This is like crying when you meet someone called Sally because you had an aunt called Sally who died when you were younger.
