I have been listening to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" on repeat for the last hour and a half, and I can't help it.
Thus I post here to ask Facepunch what it thinks of the Fame Monster that has become Lady Gaga.
In my opinion, her appeal to the masses comes down to what the US military said would be its approach in the Yugoslav Wars, namely "Shock and Awe." Although overused, it think it fits her very well since a lot of her music videos are by some definitions "risque," "disturbing," "avante garde," etc. The first time I saw the music video for "Poker Face," I thought it was terrible, but it was more than 3 minutes in before I figured out I couldn't turn away. I will equate this with watching a train-wreck in slow motion; awful, gut-wrenching, but impossible to turn away.
So in this way you can see the contradiction between me not liking Poker Face but loving Bad Romance. I even like the video for Bad Romance. Does Lady Gaga offer something for everyone, or am I just crazy for liking anything to do with her?

She's trying to be like Madonna but the difference is Madonna was attractive and Lady Gaga looks like a horse.
Don't like her music. But I like her costumes. :smile:

I'm not really into her type of music but I don't get why so many people hate her. Shes an artist and she likes her music, so what? At least she doesn't act like Justin Beiber thinking hes the shit.
Her songs are fucking catchy, and people have such high standards for looks today. Not everyone is gonna be picture perfect.

A lot* of female pornstars aren't really good looking per-say, they are more just slutty and I'd say there many flaws in most of them. If anything it's just media and celebrities that raise the standards for looks.
I'm sure if she stopped dressing like a goddamn stripper she'd look fairly good in a normal/average sort of way. But I guess the flashy revealing clothing is part of her shtick.
I went to her concert because my mum thought all her friends would wanna go and bought 12 tickets before they sold out.... I took my girlfriend. Turned out alright :smile:
She has a few great songs, But her style of music isn't something I could listen to too much.

I voted barely tolerable. I can listen to her music but I don't really enjoy it. I appreciate her skill though. She is very good at what she does, and has a great voice. Catchy too

I appreciate her talent and the nerve she has to do some of the stuff she pulls off which is admirable, that's why I love her.

well she's still very very talented as it is, I've never heard or seen any of her earlier work, but what I've seen is impressive.

I don't like A LOT of what popular American - as well as Canadian - culture has to offer these days.
That being said, it's been about 3 days now since I downloaded Bad Romance AND I'M STILL LISTENING TO IT ON REPEAT. Therefore, I may feel obliged to let other popular artists have a shot... lol jk.
I cant get bad romance and telephone out of my head. Its really pissing me off now.

I didn't like her before, but her songs are pretty catchy and are decent, plus she's pretty good looking in my opinion, so I'll say she's good.
Her songs are not crap but I would not go and buy and album or anything like that. Her songs are catchy making them appeal to many people.
