Donald Trump 'fumbles' on questions involving terror leaders - talks about 'Kurds' when asked about
Trump also mixed up the Quds Force, the elite foreign unit of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, with the Kurds — the Middle Eastern ethnic group concentrated in northern Iraq and parts of Iran, Syria and Turkey.
“Are you familiar with Gen. Soleimani?” Hewitt asked.
“Yes, but go ahead, give me a little, go ahead, tell me.” Trump said. “The Kurds, by the way, have been horribly mistreated by …”
“No, not the Kurds, the Quds Forces, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Quds Forces,” Hewitt said.
"Soleimani is to terrorism sort of what Trump is to real estate," Hewitt explained later.
"OK," Trump said.
"Many people would say he’s the most dangerous man in the world, and he runs the Quds Forces, which is their Navy SEALs," Hewitt elaborated.
"Is he the gentleman that was going back and forth with Russia and meeting with Putin?" Trump asked. "I read something, and that seems to be also where he’s at."
Hewitt responded: "That’s the guy."

To be entirely fair to Trump, not that he necessarily deserves it, but I had no idea who that was either until I clicked in here.
And perhaps I should be better informed, since I'm a journalist.

A journalist that goes on FP and has 12k posts? Rip Journalism
Trump should really know this stuff if he really wants to be president, which I still doubt that he will stay in the race this time, as he never stays in the race.

Yeah, journalism's really quite dead. Most of my coworkers are Redditors.

Oh god, reddit? that's overkill.

You're a kid on facepunch.
He's a presidential candidate.
I know about Quds.
I only know about Quds from looking up ISIL-related stuff on Wikipedia

Same here
I've never heard of the Quds and I come here every day

It's a good thing FP isn't the standard for foreign policy knowledge.

You're not running for president, either soooo
Am I one of the only ones who knows a lot about the Quds Force? I mean, I do expect the general populace to not know a whole lot, but a presidential candidate is another thing. Then again, when you're friends with defense bloggers, you generally learn a lot of useless info.

I've read about them quite a lot, but then again I'm probably one of the few major users keeping track of the war against the Islamic State here on FP.

I do notice you posting about the war on ISIS. For me, I haven't followed ISIS as much as I followed the situation in eastern Ukraine. A lot of news I get is either from War is boring, random blogs, or things some of the American YPG volunteers I follow post, that and Conflict News on twitter.

I find Al Jazeera to be pretty excellent on reporting, especially on up to date stuff. I often see articles on new events there before other western media reports it (if they report it).
Though the past half dozen Islamic State threads I have posted on the situation there have dropped straight to the bottom of SH with 0 posts each time.

then what does the FP stand for?

I've noticed a lot of times western media is either slow or just doesn't report it, though I do see BBC posting good stuff. I check out Al Jazeera occasionally as well. With me, sometimes I won't post a comment, I'll just read the article posted. For something like this though, this is rather important. I dislike how someone with the amount of supporters like Trump doesn't really seem to do much homework on things that do generally matter to the US in some fashion. The fact he tried to make it seem that the question was a "gotcha question" is also bad.
I know about Quds.
Iranian crazy muslim soldiers are my favourite maniacs in the middle east
then what does the FP stand for?
FP stands for Bernie Sanders 2016.
[sp]The F and P are silent.[/sp]

Um I'm not a kid?
What's your point?
Um I'm not a kid?

The point is you have no need to know about the Quds Force whereas it seems pretty important to a presidential candidate to know.
Also this is FP, we're all 14 year olds. Get use to it.
