Republicans in Congress will “play along for a while” with Trump to achieve smaller government: “tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare — and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.” Eventually, Reich quotes the ex-congressman as saying, Republicans in Congress will seize on “something really dumb” Trump does that “violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way.”
Congressional Republicans will then impeach Trump.
“They like Pence,” the unidentified former congressman told Reich, according to Reich. “Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind.”
While I don't doubt Republicans won't play along with Trump 100% this feels like grasping at this point.
This is all stuff that we just assumed anyway.
honestly, it seems feasible. They'd rather have Pence than Trump anyway. So they'll come up with some reason to out Trump.
Though I have a feeling Pence would be worse.
I could see this coming true to be honest. The idea that Republicans would let Trump soak up the public backlash for a while before throwing him under the bus seems eerily plausible.
If they ran Trump just because they knew Pence wouldn't win. I say this is really playing the system to get a candidate they want the non-democratic way.
"Trump will be impeached" Says Increasingly Nervous Nation For Sixth Time This Presidency

I don't see a reason for any president to be impeached short of treason or doing something that puts the nations security at great risk like cutting the entire military budget down to one million dollars a year or something.
Impeachment shouldnt be a political tactic.

blatantly breaking the law, constitutional or otherwise, and/or lying under oath are grounds for impeachment
Here's what the Facebook post says, which is what this article is solely about.
I had breakfast recently with a friend who's a former Republican member of Congress. Here's what he said:
Him: Trump is no Republican. He’s just a big fat ego.
Me: Then why didn’t you speak out against him during the campaign?
Him: You kidding? I was surrounded by Trump voters. I’d have been shot.
Me: So what now? What are your former Republican colleagues going to do?
Him (smirking): They’ll play along for a while.
Me: A while?
Him: They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.
Me: And then what?
Him (laughing): They like Pence.
Me: What do you mean?
Him: Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind.
Me: So what?
Him: So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will ...
Me: They impeach him?
Him: You bet. They pull the trigger.
Which, at least to me, is hilariously suspect and reads like the numerous other FB hoaxes found to be false.
There are legitimate things to be worried about, and then there's this article. Desperation circlejerking.

Then we just need to wait and see what the courts rule if any of these investigations turn up anything instead of jumping the gun and planning to impeach him once the republicans don't have a use for him.
He isn't wrong though, they'll make Trump into a scapegoat when they cut social security and medicare benefits as its pretty unpopular with certain crowds.
"Trump will be impeached," an increasingly worried man insists for the fourth time in three months

Pence would be better on international issues without a doubt.
Domestic, though... Would be a disaster.

It's not a leak of their plans, it's a qualified person's speculation. And it sounds pretty realistic.

Amazing how an unverified anonymous source can be considered news today.
Fake news.
It's a Facebook post by Robert Reich, Bill Clinton's former Sec. of Labor and pretty outspoken opponent of Trump. I wouldn't say he's a great source but if it IS fake he's the one who fabricated it and not some random jerk on the net, so take that for what it is.
And while posting something directly from Facebook isn't great
The Daily Caller is a stupid partisan hack-rag, just take a look at their front page
Yeah it's Tucker Carlson's website and you're basically taking an unconfirmed source and serving it on a shit platter.
Tudd posted something dumb from there yesterday to try and knock the thread about the Women's March off track.
Do we really want a Pence presidency over Trump though?

Better yet do we have a less shit source?

https://www.facebook.com/RBReich/posts/1445206565491935 is the original source. It's something that Robert Reich posted himself on Facebook. It's simply speculation by a former Republican congressman, not leaked plans or confirmation that it'll actually happen.
Yea real believable coming from the Clinton Labor Secretary
Yea real believable coming from the Clinton Labor Secretary
Robert Reich is pretty well respected and I see no reason or benefit as to why he would make this up. It's simply speculation from a former Republican congressman he had lunch with, not his own opinion.

Trump's not going to stop the Republicans from implementing all their ass-backwards policies. Pence at least would have a temperament that wouldn't get us into international incidents every other day.

honestly both dailycaller and huffpaint should be banned as sources at this point.
While I don't doubt Republicans won't play along with Trump 100% this feels like grasping at this point.
Makes sense though TBH
Let Trump pass a bunch of unpopular stuff (tax cuts for the most wealthy), then impeach him and distance him. Make him into their scapegoat.

Totally good with that.
They really are on about the same level of partisanship.

Stop it with this Montague and Capulet shit.
honestly, it seems feasible. They'd rather have Pence than Trump anyway. So they'll come up with some reason to out Trump.

They want to get rid of Trump because Trump doesn't play by the rules, so to speak.
Pence is a career politician who knows how the game is played, so naturally they'd rather a compliant Pence than a boisterous Trump.
This article sounds like the plot of a low-budget drama movie. Him saying that Republicans think Trump is a "big fat ego" is completely idiotic, as Trump is one of the most far right candidates ever elected in my opinion. He's the literal embodiment of capitalism itself.
The Dems can keep on dreaming about some fabled impeachment but Trump knows he's on thin ice, and I don't think a man that successful is really that dumb.
Is a Facebook post the only source for this article?
