GM officially gives up on nationwide launch of the Chevy Bolt EV, now commits to ‘slow’ ramp up
Since all of GM’s all-electric cars have so far been compliance cars produced only to comply with ZEV mandates, it wasn’t out-of-bounds for people to doubt them (myself included) when they announced that the Chevy Bolt EV will be available in all 50 states at launch.
It now looks like we were right to doubt them since after months of weakening their language about the launch, GM has now made it clear that only California and Oregon will get the Bolt in 2016, and the rest of the US will see a “slow flow” throughout 2017.
...
GM spokeswoman Michelle Malcho told the Wall Street Journal on Thursday that only “limited quantities” will be available in 2017 in other states, but they are still deliveries planned in 2016 for California and Oregon

I knew GM wasn't serious about the Bolt. What a waste.
Well they just screwed themselves over in competing against the Model 3.

They'll just continue to try to legislate it out of existence.
what in the fuck has gotten into 90% of automakers with electric cars looking like kiddie cars or pieces of shit. Telsa/BMW/ford/mercedes are one of the very few that actually tries to make their cars as slick as any gas car on the market. The rest all follow this goofy ass car design that looks like these:

oh i hipe this isnt because theyre anticipating trump slashing fuel standards. corporate america should be pushing the tech and not needing government regulations to do so but they are more interested in selling f-150s and silverados than actually making EVs

Ford just swaps out the internals of their normal cars to make them electric right? That's pretty much perfect.
The BMW i3 looks kinda weird though. maybe it's just because im used to their roadsters and sedans

ford's electric is the focus with an electric engine. They look exactly the same and you wouldn't know till you saw the EV on the logo on the back.

Why won't they realize consumers want EVs. There is large demand clearly. Or are they really that dense?

Glad I reserved a Model 3.

That reminds me of my '09 Civic, but like someone stretched it vertically. Can car companies please ditch the "one curved line" profile?
The i3's are weird in person. That blue bit around the grill is like way brighter. I'm pretty sure it's actually a light. The back two thirds of the car are not bad, just the front 1/3 is so fucking bad it ruins the whole thing.
Wtf is with automakers and trying to make cars look more and more like eggs on wheels.
Wtf is with automakers and trying to make cars look more and more like eggs on wheels.
Well, they're not, it's just an EV thing for whatever reason
The latest trend is domestic cars being designed to look like imports / luxury cars
I'm not complaining at all but I kind of liked when european cars looked more unique in the US

I'm convinced BMW and Chevy want to make Americans universally hate electric cars and keep buying gas cars by flooding the market with electric tampons on wheels.

"You want electric cars? Here! This is what electric cars have to look like! You don't want an electric car look how ugly they are! Buy Chevy today!"
It goes further than looks. Go to a Chevy dealer and ask about the Bolt. You'll probably be redirected towards another vehicle. Same problem with dealerships from other conventional brands. The dealers keep the EV's in the back and don't really want to sell them, because dealers make money off maintenance. And they're not set up to maintain EV.s (plus EV's require less maintenance because there are less moving parts.)

To be honest the Bolt looks like a fairly normal car. Generally the Germans are good at styling (as are all Western Europeans - except the French lmao), but the i3 looks like they applied typical German over-engineering to the styling. It's just not right.
Unpopular opinion here, but I actually really like how the nissan leaf looks in a weird cute way lmao
like it's ugly but it's an appealing sort of ugly if you get what I mean

Chevrolet/GM know how to make a decent looking / non-stupid electric car, the Bolt just looks goofy because it's one of those jacked-up hatchbacks like the KIA Soul.
Chevy Volt:

I can't Believe It's Not Civic!®
Ford and Mercedes EVs look fine because they're just regular cars with the engine removed and some plastic covering the grilles. They aren't going to be as efficient as a purpose-built EV.
The Nissan looks stupid because it's designed for efficiency, hence the wonky headlights and such.
Rimacs look pretty nifty for electric cars

The only thing I like about this is the two tone colors and the blue accents.
