Battlefield 3 is about to step out from under DICE's secretive cover -- and onto a magazine cover. The game is featured in the next issue of Game Informer, and the game's official site is expected to host a teaser trailer tomorrow.
The title will utilize DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, which promises numerous visual enhancements (see: deferred rendering, real-time radiosity), a new animation system that originated from EA Sports, and environments that are more destructible than ever before. The developer made it clear today that it had canceled other projects in order to focus on making Battlefield 3 "the best Battlefield game ever."
Battlefield 3 is expected to launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. We're already eager to see how how all that fancy technology holds up across three different platforms.

Battlefield 1943 for PC is not going to happen. Posting on the official Battlefield blog, Karl Magnus Troedsson, general manager of DICE, confirmed that both 1943 and Onslaught, a co-op add-on for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, have been "officially canceled." He states that the team is focusing all energy on Battlefield 3 in order to make it "the best Battlefield game ever" and "the biggest launch in DICE's history." (Good luck getting into a game during the first three days!)
Battlefield 1943's delayed trek to PC had become hopeless in recent months, though company reps believed it was still set to deploy at some point when we followed up last summer. The downloadable experiment has been a resounding success on consoles, netting $16 million for Electronic Arts.
Stop, now. Whats that sound? Call Of Duty, hitting the mother fucking ground.
"the game's official site is expected to host a teaser trailer tomorrow."
fucking YES!
Never played Bad Company. Should I play that before 3? I played 2.
Can I buy Medal of Honor right now to get into the beta? Or did I need to buy it on the first day?
:hellyeah:

Last time I checked local gamestops still hold copies of Limited Edition MoH, so you should go buy a copy from them, and later down the road [October 12th, 2011 to be exact] you'll get into the beta of BF3
[editline]3rd February 2011[/editline]

They stated earlier on this month with their GDC note that PC will get 64 players, and bigger maps while Console gamers get 40 players, and slightly smaller maps.
Hope it just isn't another Bad Company. I enjoyed it thoroughly but it didn't feel like Battlefield to me.
I'm getting tired of the modern age.

I agree. Bad Company didn't have nearly enough nade spam.
I want 512 people in one server.
oh god no. That would be horrible. What the fuck are you thinking..

They've done WWII, Vietnam, modern age, and the future. What are they going to do, Battlefield: 1917?
You sit in a trench for 3 weeks.
Rats eat your food while you sleep.
A shell lands in your trench.
It was filled with chlorine gas.
Respawn in 10 seconds

Agreed.
Why is it always a black person walking as if he has no idea that he is on fire?

Yeah, there's a lot of other things they could do. Arab Revolt, Six Day War, Yom Kippur War, and Korea for example. In the tabletop wargaming world the Arab-Israeli Wars of the 1960s-1970s are really popular because of all the big tank battles that happened there.
Battlefield 3 will still be a console port. No thanks.
It seems like everyone says this in every single Battlefield 3 thread. Hardly any info has been released about the game and the info that was released shows that DICE really wants the PC version to be the best version.
I agree. Bad Company didn't have nearly enough nade spam.
total lack of dolphin diving ruined that game.
"the game's official site is expected to host a teaser trailer tomorrow."
fucking YES!
Hopefully it at least shows screens or small clips from BF3 and not just some lame title screen with 30 seconds of build up.
