I was browsing 4chan earlier, and a guy from a detachment of marines that works to protect foreign diplomats was saying they got around 20 calls to move into the ambassadors in both Israel and Jordan, And when they got to the ambassadors, they found out that they didn't even know, but that the military called them to be there. Look at airport security, NSA privacy invasions, the patriot act, and everything else that has spawned as a result of 9/11. Before that almost no one knew or cared about islamic terrorists.
