This seems overdesigned and rather inefficient. All it takes is a fire pit, two metal trash cans, and a length of hose. Fill one with a bunch of water. Put it in the fire pit. Run the heavy hose to the other can. Drill some holes in the second cans bottom for drainage. When he opened it up, a small puff of steam came out. If you opened my assembly up without facial protection, your face would melt. I could soak a 4x4 in a couple of minutes. The whole point of this type of assembly is to get the wood to the point where it is very pliant, then you can bend it, lock it in place, and have it dry out and stay in that shape. I don't know how long he soaked those little sticks for, but he's applying a ridiculous amount of force to bend them. Total cost: -2 partially rusted trash bins -1 10 foot length of heavy rubber hose sitting in someones basement -1/4 of a dead tree for fire. (having a barbeque at the same time not required) -splash shield for your face -heavy work gloves
