• My Little Pony - For children, or acceptable as adult entertainment?

My Little Pony has garnered a large audience of loyal fans since it aired not too long ago. Grown men across the internet have created a large fanbase for the series, which features brightly colored female talking ponies/ponycorns(this is a unicorn-pony hybrid)/pegapony(pony w/ wings). Many others, though, believe this series has acceptable quirks that merit further analysis. Some would say the following traits make the series more aimed toward adults: • Artistic Quality(the series is produced in adobe flash) • Deep Plot • Inclusion of more "adult humor" -- ex: there is an episode named "Call of the Cutie," which could be a reference to the cthulu mythos. I, personally, believe there is no merit to the series and it is definitely intended for sole consumption by females under the age of 12. The common theme in the series is friendship being a key element to a happy life. This is a life lesson presented in the majority of children's shows/books. When watching the show, I see nothing different in quality from, say, caillou(another children's show). What are your opinions?
case law resolutions for reference: the prosecution rests their case, the defense may now proceed with their rebuttal
I'm personally not interested in it and I would hardly call it adult entertainment ,but that doesn't mean you have to be a 12 year old girl to enjoy it.
It's quite obviously a children's show. But I don't think what you asked is the right question. The real correct question would be 'Is it alright for grown men to watch a children's show?'.
While I don't see any problem with people outside of the target audience watching it, it's still obviously targeted to a specific audience.
considering that i still occasionally watch pokemon, which is targeted at the same age range as this show is except more at boys, i'd say it's fine [editline]20th September 2011[/editline] i just don't wave it in everyone's face, the bronies that do this are the ones that need to get hell out
I disagree with you saying it's watched by lots of adults. Most people watching this or having a cult for this show are probably not over 20.
It's a show for little girls. You just can't deny that at all. Also, OP, where is the deep plot in this? This is basically another one of those educating cartoons that give you some life lesson in the end after a problem has rised and has been solved. The artwork is what shows exactly that its a show for little girls. The characters are almost ALL girls, and the ones that aren't girls are either somewhat fruity (not gay, just not... masculine? at all) The plot seems to have been pulled out of a bucket of sugar and periods to have that extra feminine girlish smell. This really isn't for adults. Say, who 21+ actually sees this?
I just wish they would keep it to themselves.
if it was designed with an audeince of small girls in mind, it is a show for small girls no amount of you jerking it over it and picking up on every little reference directed at an older crowd makes it acceptable adult entertainment
FOR CHILDREN [editline]20th September 2011[/editline] Deep plot my ass [editline]20th September 2011[/editline] that doesn't sound right
For children, I don't think adults like it because they're creepy pedo idiots. I think they like it because for a childrens show, the characters are wildy different, the art style is good, and they can relate to a certain pony. The brony movement is definitely a fad, but I do believe there are true fans that are sane adults.
It's for brainless dipshit no life internet nerds and little kids. My defense to that statement? Those who watch it are obviously too dumb to make an actual opposing statement or a defense of their own, thus with no argument we are forced to believe it's just for children and idiots. It's just a show, I could really care less if someone watched it. Most of the online fan-base is old enough to make decisions on their own and do what they want to do regardless of someone else's opinion, part of being grown. Besides, people still watch modern day Pokemon and even I'll admit the show has gone downhill.

For children. For fucking children. 5-7 year old girls. Every grown male adult or "brony" who actually likes and faps to this shit needs to all line up and get shot executioner style.
I can't understand why MLP "bronies" go crazy over it. I honestly believe its fairly sad now.

Anyone who's really trying to say that all viewers of the show are "brainless dipshit no life internet nerds and little kids" really has nothing to back their opinion, it's nothing but name-calling, basically the worst way you could possibly win the debate, only people will agree with you receiving no insight from anyone else. I've asked this about a few hundred times. Why. Do. You. Give. A. Fuck. (Pony avatar... incoming autoboxes)

I used to dislike people who watched the show but I can understand how they could like a show like that. I wouldn't watch it myself but I do enjoy watching cartoons when my siblings are. The only kids cartoon I would watch without them would be spongebob.
I thought that MLP discussions were not allowed on here anymore If not, please correct me.
nope nope nope
anyway I think watching the show is fine but the guys who talk about which pony they would ride and how their pony would look and their cutie marks and which ponies they'd fuck that's that's just weird
I don't really care that they watch it, but it gets me rattled when they make up excuses like "The plot is so intricate" and "it is the most genius show of our time". It really isn't.

I think the real question (which is a debate all in itself) is why people care so much about people who like watching MLP? Unless they're shoving it in people's faces, it really doesn't matter. (Having a MLP avatar is NOT shoving it into people's faces)
people can like what they want to like. some men like other men. some men like women discriminating based on these "likes" is stupid same could apply to forms of media
