Honestly if you go to vote every four years thinking voting for one man who's mainly a figure head is going to make a difference, it's not. Yes there's sway, yes they have power, but it's power that's rarely used in favor of appeasing the people who've been in power and make the most money by being in power. So I'm not at all surprised shit like this happened.

If he didn't, it would have been another Republican berserk button pressed. Fox News would have brought on "annalists" to bash him on his terror policy and it would be thrown in his face for months to come by the retarded Republican House. At the same time, we still haven't worked out a compromise to raise the debt ceiling, and we can't have this in the way. Despite the sense behind it, it's a horrid bill and I hope it gets killed as soon as the budget is safe again.

What else could he have done? There's a ton of crisis right now and the last thing the government needs is people bickering over this and causing delays in congress for several days because of it.
