• French labour dispute: Strike hits all eight oil refineries
An estimated 20% of petrol stations have either run dry or are low on supplies. Clashes broke out at one refinery early on Tuesday when police broke up a picket at Fos-sur-Mer in Marseille. Prime Minister Manuel Valls insisted the labour laws would stand, and that further pickets would be broken up. "That's enough. It's unbearable to see this sort of thing," he told French radio. "The CGT will come up against an extremely firm response from the government. We'll carry on clearing sites blocked by this organisation." Invest in a prius. The hair drier army must grow.
It happened a few decades beck and it went to a point that our government sent the army with ground vehicules to kick the fuckers out and free the fuel :v:
It's soo funny to see people rushing the gas station like it's going to be the end of the world.

Yes it is still posible to refuel for now, BUT there is nothing dumb in filling your tank just in case while you can because we don't know how far the cgt is willing to go. Depends where you live also. Hopefully the radicalisation is not as bad everywhere. People in Pyrénnées are fine, but in the north things are getting a bit hot
Already more than 2000 stations had to close doors...
And why? Because people rushed the gas stations. If everyone stayed calm and rational it would have never happened.
Depends where you live also. Hopefully the radicalisation is not as bad everywhere. And let's be honest, they are going to block the refinery for, like, 3 weeks max.(sadly)
urgh, my flight home from lyon is saturday, if this and the air traffic controller strike leaves me stuck here that'll be a fuckin pest. what is it with the french and strikes, honestly its like theres one almost every day since ive been here.
I'm going on a weekend with some friends to celebrate our birthdays, but I don't even have enough fuel to make half the trip, and every street that has a station is just full of cars waiting. Pretty sure more than half of them have enough fuel to last for a month... Looks like it's time for some 4am fuel hunting, gonna be fun!
This all looks like very legitimate reasons to strike from what I can gather from the BBC article. Those laws sound like they benefit no one but companies and the government outright abused its power to push it through. It really sucks about gas shortages though, but the only way to change shit these days is threaten the entire systems functionality. Usually governments have resorted to "waiting it out" or abusing police power, sadly. Anarchy just sounds better by the day.

The street looks like a civil war is going on. The public transports are hell because of the strikes of drivers and because the protesters are blocking the streets. Some parents have to find people to guard their children because teachers are part of the strike too, even if the law doesn't concern them. Even our university library was closed for the strike. The fondamental of the protest is legitimate - but just stop making the life harder for everyone except the government. My people want to work 30hrs a week and be paid for 40. It will never happen. So the people will never be happy. I'm tired of this mentality. Most of Europe have worse working conditions that we have, so just be glad to have a decently paid job ffs
