A classmate of mine committed suicide today because of bullying - General

I didn't know him personally, but a classmate of mine, Drew, committed suicide early this morning after going through constant bullying [b]because he was gay.[/b] He sat next to me in English class and I didn't think anything of it when he was absent today, until found out why. It makes me sick that this still goes on, society is moving backwards. It's still hard to believe it happened, especially over something so fucking ridiculous. The kid was nice to everyone and had a boyfriend he loved. Everyone is wearing purple tomorrow to remember him and get at those who bullied him. Does anyone here see this going on around their school or work or whatever? Are you the one bullying? I just can't believe it led to him killing himself. Society has always hated gays, so we've moved forward from lynching to mental torture edit: and before someone hates on me for getting off topic, Im just calling to attention how sad it is that we've moved eons forward in almost all aspects of society, and we still have this homophobic herd mentality. I dont know what homophobia is like in other countries, but here in america, it's really REALLY bad.

Bullying people because they're gay makes no sense when there are plenty of people you can bully for being religious fanatics.

I didn't know him myself, but a guy at my former school hanged himself. I think it was bullying, but I'm not completely sure. All I remember is that a girl in my class got a phonecall, then burst out of the room while crying.
