At 26 years old, Jesse Shand was homebound, had dropped out of college after a year, and was channeling his depression into negative comments on an Internet forum. Now, two years later, he’s working his first job and has a thriving social network of supportive friends. What changed? About 400 pounds of body weight.
In May 2013, Shand weighed 653 pounds. The Novi, Michigan, native couldn’t stand for more than 25 seconds at a time, and his mother had become his full-time caretaker. Shand was active on Bodybuilding.com’s community forums, specifically the miscellaneous section, which he likened to Reddit or 4chan, and one day the forum moderator asked him to add a photo of himself as his avatar.
More like an upgrade from something that when it was out, was top of the line to something that is comparatively dog shit today.

This guy's story is a great read.
There was a thread somewhere on bodybuilding.com explaining the whole situation but I lost the link.
We're all gonna make it.

It's quite sad really... I wish people would understand the permanent consequences of becoming obese

People understand it fully. It's just that obesity and depression usually go hand in hand.
Really impressive transformation. Sucks that it costs 20g for what I'd personally consider a life-saving operation.
He's at 14k of the 20k he needs.

Do/did you have one of those stomachs that droops over the waistband of your pants and "hangs" there? Loose skin typically depends on how the weight is carried, people with that hanging stomach tend to get it, but guys who have those big round bellies that don't hang typically avoid it. You also have to get really big for loose skin, if you've coming from being severely obese it's probably going to happen. Maintaining a balanced diet will promote skin recovery and lifting weights will fill some of that void with muscle mass, lessening the amount of loose skin.
He has a great personality.
I went from 350 to 240 by eating right and running everyday. Had a child 2 years ago and kind of stopped running. Also started drinking soda again.. Now I'm back at 260 :( fucking dammit I'm slacking.

Keep at it. I was 230-240 around late 2013. 180-185 these days. Keep at it.
