• GOP Congresswoman: Men Need To Dumb Policy ‘Down To A Woman’s Level’
Republican efforts to combat the image of a “war on women” are still not going well. First, Todd Akin re-emerged and started talking about “legitimate rape” again. Now, a conservative conference designed to improve outreach to female voters has only succeeded in offending them even more. On Friday, a group of conservative female politicians met to discuss how the GOP can better pitch its policies to women. The women mostly considered how to act personable and tell stories to better connect one on one with voters. That all seemed fine (although they didn’t mention how the GOP actually supports women, just that it does). At first. But then Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) suggested that maybe the reason women prefer Democrats is because they aren’t smart enough to understand Republican policies. She blamed this on, yes… pie charts. “Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level,” she said, as reported by The Washington Examiner’s Ashe Schow. “Many of my male colleagues, when they go to the House floor, you know, they’ve got some pie chart or graph behind them and they’re talking about trillions of dollars and how, you know, the debt is awful and, you know, we all agree with that.” Clearly Ellmers didn’t learn what pie charts are in elementary school, like the rest of the country did. Her strategy seems to be telling women they’re not smart enough to understand policy, and suggesting that the conservative policies her colleagues mentioned earlier, such as reducing the debt, aren’t actually something that female voters even want to discuss, because they already blindly agree with the graphs the men are presenting. Ellmers then bizarrely went on to say that women would rather use that time for grooming, apparently because they need “more time in the morning to get ready.”
http://www.nationalmemo.com/gop-rep-men-need-dumb-policy-womans-level/
for fuck sake, so many dumbasses in our government
sounds like she doesnt know how to read
I really would like to know how people like this manage to function in reality.
And this is why people need to actually pay attention to and participate in elections, because this is who gets in office when the majority of people don't.
This shit sounds like a fucking cartoon Welcome to american politics everybody
Maybe women dislike the Republican party more often than not because the party belittles them and treats them as some sort of inferior species? no it's the pie charts their frail feminine minds just can't help but go back to cooking [editline]15th July 2014[/editline]
This shit sounds like a fucking cartoon Welcome to american politics everybody
Hey, satires have to be based on something.
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
Hey, satires have to be based on something.
But what's the point in creating a satire of something if that something has already managed to become a satirization of itself?
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if no one in congress knows how to read a pie chart or interpret statistics and causality, because they sure as fuck don't act like it. I think the best people we have are just now grasping object permanence. This lady was probably the first one to be dumb enough to admit it.
there's a few gems in the rough in american politics but otherwise it's a huge joke
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
how does this joke even work or apply how on earth were you bothered enough to put this in a political news thread
Seems the GOP is employing kamikaze tactics in their war on women
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
Pie Tramatic Stress Desserter
Congresspeople should be required to take a very, very basic competency and intelligence test before assuming office. If you can't keep up with people talking about complex subjects, you shouldn't be there. Fail the test, you get sent back home and everyone in your electoral districts gets a letter in the mail reading "You elected a person too stupid for the office. Your representative cannot understand pie charts. Please try again." At this point, I honestly can't believe a single woman in the entire country still votes GOP.
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
Even if you were going for a "le tumblr sjw feminazi epic joke" how it is even remotely relevant to the article of this thread?
Goddamn it, this is why I have no faith in politics in this nation. Granted, I'll still vote for whoever is the least shitty, but I'm pretty sure everything's unfixable at this point, unless we somehow kick every last person out and start over with non-idiots. Good luck getting even one of these brain-impaired sacks of crap to budge, though, let alone all of them.
My mom truly believes that women are less capable than men. She votes democrat, but is racist without realizing it. It is a very strange situation.
i can't wait for the GOP convention in cleveland not that i could attend because of the ticket prices that will be super huge but if i did, i'd probably bring a very ironic t-shirt
I like how the writer of the article put ever one of her "you know"s in there. Yes lady, I do know, but clearly you fucking don't.

Like how teenage girls use "like" every fourth word.
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
Rickrolls are funnier than this Let that sink in for a moment
I think, the article is a bit biased and has misconstrued what is meant by the woman. I don't think she's saying, "I don't understand the concept of a chart", I think she is saying, "I don't understand the content contained within the charts that are being used to back up whatever point X person is trying to make." And it's true that when a chart in any particular field is not presented for the layman, it can be incredibly confusing what is actually being represented on those charts. That being said I think if you're going to be a politician in any capacity you should never say, "I don't understand this content so I'm just going to agree with you", you should always put in the work to understand the matters upon which you are deciding policy based off of. If you cannot do that, you should resign.
agreed, but she did project her stupidity while at the same time insulting every other female out there by literally saying "bring it down to a woman’s level"
If you listen to the full comments, she meant it in a "bring it down from the top level overview to a personal level"
Why bring it down to a "woman's level"? Just learn how to read what you're fucking looking at.
Why bring it down to a "woman's level"? Just learn how to read what you're fucking looking at.
Something-something about oppression and lack of education for women here.
Could you please put a trigger warning on the title. I am a trans-fat and pie charts trigger my PTSD
Just what made you pull this joke
If you listen to the full comments, she meant it in a "bring it down from the top level overview to a personal level"
despite what she meant she stirred up the hive with that awful wording
I came in here thinking "Watch this be my representative." I was not disappointed....go NC.
The worst part is that this is someone who actually has some say in running the country, not just some stupid Fox News pundit. Depending on the issue I normally agree with Republicans, but this lady is just an idiot.
