Fuck the Prius, you can pick up a decent Honda for $2,500 and run it for another 100,000 miles and still not justify a $25,000 Prius for 200,000 miles. A Honda or any other older small car is cheap to fix and parts can be found everywhere.
Also these fuels aren't coal so Wind, Nuclear, Solar and all the others aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

I only know basics of genetic engineering, but perhaps make it dependent on really cheap substances not present in human or animal bodies.
If it does work it only solves half the problem, the other half of which is the emissions produced by fossil fuels. It might also be a major political and economical thing as well, because the Middle East oil magnates will surely suffer a loss of customers, not to mention that the US will lose a general interest in the Middle East.

To be honest green power is not worth he money for the overall electrical output, it's only enough to power a small town and if more will be bought then it will cost more than necessary, and fossil fuels are inneficient, i think we should go nuclear because it's quite expensive but it's worth the money because it is one of the largest generators of electricity we have.

The only problem is that while their organism can pump out oil at 30 dollars a barrel, they're still going to want to sell it at the current market rate ( at time of post ) for another 60 dollars.
I'd love fuel to be affordable again for people who have to do a lot of driving, but I just don't see it happening in the world today.
Although, it might just be in the angle - ALL AMERICAN OIL, MADE HERE IN THE GOD FEARING USA INSTEAD OF ONE OF THOSE HERETIC MUSLAMIC NASHUNS! or something patriotic like that would sell half the country in a heart beat, and probably the rest if it cost 2 bucks a gallon at the pumps.
