Horizon Zero Dawn is set in a lush, beautiful open world where nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization. It is a world where mankind is not the dominant species, and highly advanced machines sit at the top of the food chain. You play as Aloy, a young outcast from a tribal society, who has learned to hunt the machines. Intent on unraveling the many mysteries that surround her, Aloy embarks on a quest that will lead her to discover her own destiny.

Aloy is capable of combining natural materials with machine parts to turn them into ingenious weapons, ammunition, traps, and tools.
New third-person action RPG game from Guerilla Games. Other people involved are - John Gonzales (Lead Writer for Fallout: New Vegas) - CD Projekt Red quest designers - Lead cinematic artist/cinematic director of The Witcher 3 - A dialog writer who previously worked on Shadow of Mordor joined the writing team - A freelance writer from Blizzard - A game designer who worked on Elder Scrolls Online Some more info here Looking very cool. Backstory up until about 2:35, and then gameplay vs a robo-trex thing. Concept art, updated without watermarks. I wasn't too impressed by the combat nor the constant talking. The rope gun looks really cool though.
Looks about as fun to play as any other action game :/ All style, no substance.

But I agree about the talking. Not to mention how nice and colorful it all looks. It was one of the highlights for me.
The introduction of this game to the company board: "So, let's make a game where cavemen hunt robotic dinosaurs." "Why?" "Why what?" "Why are there robotic dinosaurs?" "Who cares? It's cavemen hunting robotic dinosaurs." "Funded."
There could be in an interesting story in this, I mean come on, tribes vs robots? Hell yeah I'm into this. But my god, does Aloy ever shut up?
combat looks pretty dynamic, a bit stiff though, but i'm sure it'll be refined later on. also, i'm a sucker for games with hunting especially if they include things 10 times bigger than you, definitely gonna want to play this
Setting and story and art direction look a hundred times more interesting than the gameplay, which is a damn shame since they could have something with some real substance here. I feel the same way towards the order 1886 but I'll have to see more before I make a comparison like that.
also pretty sure the talking was just for show, doubt itll be like that in the final game
I fucking love these robodinosaur designs.
oh and i hope we get to learn about the robots through subtle clues and exploration. i'll be disappointed if they pull a cheap cop-out like assassins creed and literally have holograms pop up and explain you everything
Holy fuck. I NEED to know the story behind this. I fucking love the dino's designs, and how they have organs hnng i love it. It's like skynet's bots, instead they're white and black instead of chrome.
it looks cool as fuck. will probably pick up for the gameplay mechanics but guaranteed the story will either be to do with some gay quest to find these 'old ones' who are probably old executive types who feel threatened by these country folk or finding an emp to shut down the machine dinos.
This demo was shoot things or crouch up to thing and press button. It wasn't anything special outside of the art.
This demo was shoot things or crouch up to thing and press button.
So it's every big budget action game?
Hahahaha, that diving between bushes stealth mechanic is in a Cabela game I believe.
Looks like just about any action game, just with a character that won't shut up.
Looks like just about any action game, just with a character that won't shut up.
I agree, but, looking at they got the guy that wrote fallout new vegas and witcher 3's quest designers, I'll be watching this game
So it's every big budget action game?
Kind of my point.
What would you want them to add to the gameplay? I always see people wishing for the elusive Next Gen Gameplay™ but nobody can seem to articulate what it is.
It's a shame they didn't combine this game's style with the concept of WiLD. I would have loved to see this get made as some sort of open world sandbox game. We need a proper dinosaur sandbox game after Peter Molyneux didn't release that B.C. game.
Hopefully it comes to PC eventually cause bows and robots are cool.
Hopefully it comes to PC eventually cause bows and robots are cool.
[sp]Never ever[/sp]
Watching the trailer with the sound off, there's something incredibly similar to Witcher 3 in the way the game looks and moves. The swaying trees, the way the character's hair and clothes move as she runs, the way she shoulders her weapon. Even the way she slides down a hill and rolls at the end at around 2:40. It's probably because I play Witcher 3 exclusively now.
Nature hippies literally fighting technology I sense there may be a metaphor within this...... It's kinda cool at least

Probably just not another boring action game.
This looks really really cool, love the story and art direction. Got some pretty credible people on their team too, so worth keeping an eye on - always interested in a game that's a new IP instead of a 10th sequel for something. I liked Tomb Raider, I liked Uncharted and Killzone. I just don't think this looks anything special. [editline]16th June 2015[/editline] Don't try and twist my meaning just because you feel the need to defend this game against me. Who cares if I don't like it? I don't care if you like it or not; the game is still highly uninteresting.
I'd love to see them explain how this happened.

I didn't even mention anything about the game to you at all. I've just said that your definition of 'next gen gameplay' was laughable and proved his point that no one can articulate what they actually expect.
