Why the hell not. I'm sure you can create some great stuff with this. Maybe you could scan in an object by turning it around a few times, and the program creates a model + textures for it. [editline].[/editline] Damn that idea is awesome I should copyright that.
What if you got a camera in each corner of the room, could you do full 3d video capture?
too lowres
Doesn't matter, if he copyrights that it doesn't matter if it's done with kinect or any other similar device.

Him talking about multiple cameras.
This kinda reminds me of the radiohead's house of cards music video. It was captured with no lights and cameras and what you see is just the 3d depth information. Anyway, a possible (and probably already suggested) way to have more than one kinect shoot the scene (without one's ir signal interfering with the others) is to multiplex the signals. So when one kinect sends it's signal and takes an image, have other kinects not record. Then when the first one gets it's image it stops recording and the second one fires the signal and captures it's image etc. If done fast enough there should be no noticeable pause. Theoretically it's possible, although I'm not quite sure if kinects could turn on and off so quickly.

As a piece of technology, the Kinect is incredible. Shame it's wasted on clones of Wii games. :argh:
kn-cool
Not even the technology is new, but Kinect makes it available for the mass market.
Then again game technology is never new. This'd make webcam chats far more fun. It looks like the holograms from Minority Report

So what happens if you put a mirror in front of it?

Lets hope the dev's are going to release some good games for this, using the 3D sensor, the current line-up is weak. I think in 2011 we can expect greater games.
imagine t-bagging with the kinect i still have some bad thoughts and this 3d recording can be handy

I can see kids or adults playing games in the future that would have this feature.
is it possible for me to just buy a kinect camera and plug it into my pc there?
