Custom firmware on a PSP 1000 running official 5.50 firmware

I need to find a downgrader to downgrade my PSP to 1.50 from 5.50 but I cannot, for the life me, find one.
Can anyone help?
Is there an alternative?
Thanks in advance.
There's a 5.50 now?

Yes; "System software Version 5.50"
A JigKick should work on it. I don't think there are any software downgraders available for 5.50 yet. Unless you feel like waiting, a JigKick is your best bet.

I googled it, and it says it needs a second PSP already running homebrew...
That's for the software hack for a JigKick. You can modify the motherboard of a battery pack to do the exact same thing as using a second modded PSP.
Right... Is there a way to COMPLETELY reset my PSP, like by bricking it, and unbricking it?

There's a 6.10

That's what a JigKick will do. It will downgrade your system and patch over the 1.50 firmware with a custom firmware of your choice.
Other than using a hardmodded JigKick, I don't think there is any way to brick your PSP with the official 5.50 firmware.

And even if you managed to brick it, there wouldn't be any way of unbricking it unless you used a JigKick.
You can use a Pandora battery + a magic memory stick
If you do that you can just hit "Install 3.52 M33" and it'll do that.. no matter what official firmware you have
Three ways:
1) Buy a pandora's battery and magic memory stick already installed with CFW.
2) Get someone with a second, already cracked, PSP to create a Pandora's battery and magic memory stick with your selected CFW on it.
3) Physically modify a battery into a pandora's by opening it and rewiring it, or some such electrical modification. (I'm not familiar with this one, it seems so arbitrary when you can buy a pandora's battery)
A pandora's battery will put your PSP into a 'Service mode' from which any firmware can be installed direct to flash memory. The battery can then be converted into a regular battery using the cracked PSP.

Eh? I accidentally upgraded to 6.10 so I made a magic memory stick by downloading a few batch files and whatnot. Worked fine, what are you talkin about
What does a pandora battery actually do?
Will it still function like a normal battery?

You can make them both yourself, I worded it badly.

Not exactly. The battery has an ID, sort of like a serial number (for all intensive purposes). When made into a Pandora's battery this ID is set to a number which makes the battery a Service Battery.
While in this mode the battery allows you access to the parts of the PSP that hold the firmware and a Magic Memory stick is loaded with the Custom firmware to install.
Once finished the battery will always turn the PSP on into this service mode, but DON'T PANIC, it can be reversed into a regular battery by just using the same program which created it.

Puts your PSP into service mode, that allows you to boot software from the Memory Stick.
No it will not function as a normal one.

A pandora battery can be used to install an older or custom firmware from a "magic memory stick" (a normal MagicGate MS with special files).
You can buy a tool that can make any normal battery a Pandora Battery and change it back again. I'm using the Datel Battery Service tool, it's great. :D
You can not use a Pandora Battery as a normal battery unless you create a special magic memory stick that boots your PSP into a usable state.

It boots the PSP in developer mode and no.

This one can be switched between regular and pandora mode.

Stop filling the poor lad's head with lies.
You can simply leave your battery out, plug your PSP into the charger, turn on your PSP, and then put the battery back in and run the reverse program. Your battery will then return to completely normal operation. (Disclaimer: Provided you have successfully installed the CFW onto your PSP during the Pandora's process, problems have been reported, though very rare.)
You can buy a pandora battery on eBay too.
Thats the way i did it.
When you have to battery just use the magic memory stick tool and let it run, after that, just format the card.
