The law that should legalize "marriage for everyone" and that will be presented end of October at the ministers is getting clearer.
In an interview published last tuesday in La Croix, minister of justice Christiane Taubira confirmed that same-sex couples will be able to adopt children in the same conditions as heterosexual couples.
Marriage will allow one of the two married individuals to adopt the child of their husband/wife, but it will not make them automatically the parent by "assuming parental status", even if the family has been known to exist and be stable for several years. The law will also not legalize medically assisted procreation possible for lesbian couples and will not authorize "pregnancy for others" (which some gay couples want). Although Christian Taubira is very clear : when the law is voted, no mayor will be able to refuse for the sake of his convictions to marry people of the same sex. "We are in a state of rights. The civil code will be modified and it will effect everyone including mayors. The law will not state that they can disrespect the civil code".
For the minister of Family, the project is only a work-in-project
The minister of Family showed more reserve and precised it was merely a "pre-project". "We are at the start of auditions. We can only prejudge their content. When those exchanges will be done, a project will be given to the President and the Prime Minister. The first auditions have showed that questions are open, notably concerning the status of the tiers (step-parent) or concerning the adoption for non-married couples".
The Inter-LGBT, main organizer of the Pride walk, was surprised that Mrs Taubira has revealed to the press the law project, while "neither the Inter-LGBT nor homoparental associations were received at the chancellery".

Even though the law was already mentioned three months ago I did not expect it to be ready that fast.
Of course the article does not mention it but christian associations and most right wing parties (namely the national front and the UMP) have been widely against this law. But neither of those have any sort of importance now that the socialists are in power so screw them.
I've also realized the title is a bit misleading. The law is not voted yet, it's being prepared for vote.
This is rad.
Adoption is illegal in france? What do you people do with babies you don't want, throw them in a dumpster? :v:

Meanwhile in my country
The Ministry of Education just recently released a guide that aims to make parents aware of signs that their child might be gay(as if it was a bad thing)
And get a load of this,they treat as if it was a disease
Symptoms of gays:
Have a muscular body and like to show their body by wearing V-neck and sleeveless clothes;
Prefer tight and light-coloured clothes;
Attracted to men; and
Like to bring big handbags, similar to those used by women, when hanging out.
Symptoms of lesbians:
Attracted to women;
Besides their female companions, they will distance themselves from other women;
Like to hang out, have meals and sleep in the company of women; and
Have no affection for men.
It's like they did their research by watching very specific types of gay porn.

Fucking finally. The National Front must be really pissed, and that's why it's awesome.
I think they watched an episode of CNN's/Fox news' daily news show and thought that 'supporting' those things could make the other nations of the EU think they're rad and not facists.
Nobody likes facists. Especially French ones.
[SUB]*Cough* Except for the UK *cough*[/SUB]
It's great that they're doing this. I personally wouldn't want to adopt with the guy I'm with because I know what it's like to be bullied through school and I wouldn't want to give kids another reason to poke fun at someone for having two male parents, but it's great that the option is available for people who do want to.

Well all you have to do to avoid bullying is make the bully understand that his little victim has TWO dads to beat the crap out of him :v:

This so much.
It's funny to see that the UMP is all yelling after this but it's mostly just a cheap tactic to try getting sympathy from the FN, just like how they criticized immigrants and even made shit up concerning hollande and his policy concerning immigration.

I do love how "attracted to men" is third on the list of symptoms
France still proving to be one of the most progressive nations in the world.
Good on them!
