• Men wearing masks (my first 3 tablet drawings ever)

I got a tablet three days ago and I'm still learning about it every day. Here's my first three drawings for the first three days. I used Adobe Photoshop CS4 for all of them. First drawing "Cool man" took approx. 5 minutes: Second drawing "Hockey mask man" took approx. 10 minutes: Third drawing "Gasmask Tophat" took approx. 1 hour, used 1 reference image to trace the gas mask and drew everything else: Colored it in: Here is a drawing of neither a man or a mask, but I did it today. Took maybe 2 or more hours. Used 1 reference image and no tracing at all: Any tips from any veterans of the tablet for me? If you learned something the hard way or have a neat tip or something let me know please. :D
Did you trace gasmask pic? It looks so different from the first two.
Did you trace gasmask pic? I put some more lines and shadows and scratches and stuff on it though.
im thinking that to, johanz.. TRACE DECTORS UUNNITTEEEEE!! (shut up its late)
im thinking that to, johanz.. TRACE DECTORS UUNNITTEEEEE!! (shut up its late)
There's nothing to detect =/ I already said I traced it, and said I used a reference image.
yes.. im tired, be gone! nice btw.
Ugh, first work never deserves it's own thread here on FP. You either store it in some place so you can burn it after a few months or you post it in the "OHAI I GOT a TEBLUT" thread or the general artwork thread. It's way too early for you. Unless you use tablet for modelling or something other than drawing. Get alot of pen-paper practise, look up tutorials on anatomy, proportions, shading and everything else you are going to draw. Tracing might be good to find out some ways how to do stuff, but doing it constantly will make a shitcake out of you, just so you know. Actually, don't trace, just put the image on a separate screen and draw it off, not trace it. Yeah, if you're gonna continue putting stuff here, keep 'em in this thread.
Please update your op and tell us the art prog you used.
A tip, learn to draw traditionaly (pen and paper) before going digital. You will learn faster and gain much more by doing so.

I only traced once :P I am good at drawing on paper, i am still getting used to drawing and looking at the screen at the same time so forgive me. I'll update the thread for a while yeah. Maybe i'll put a new one every day. But not all of them will be men wearing masks :v: [editline]05:41PM[/editline]
A tip, learn to draw traditionaly (pen and paper) before going digital. Why PM when I could give you tutorials right here for everyone to see. tutorials: http://www.drawspace.com/lessons/lesson.php?id=h13 http://www.drawspace.com/lessons/lesson.php?id=h17 http://cedarseed.deviantart.com/art/Big-Guide-to-Drawing-the-Body-15014442 http://kuridoki.deviantart.com/art/Tablet-Lineart-Tutorial-28278420
Colored it in. Any tips on that?
for shadow, treat the whole thing as a sphere or some other primitive object first then work your way down. Like bounding box/sphere collision tree if you know 3D animation or ray-tracing streamline algorithms. [editline]11:12PM[/editline] something like this may be a good start: [14 min]
I just can't turn my eyes away from the shaded gasmask. It is just so appealing and inspiring to me, I should pick up a tablet now.

Did you do that with opacity jitter? Or did you just change it as you went along?
pressure sensitivity on thickness and opacity :]
pressure sensitivity on thickness and opacity :]
Wow thats god-like, i'm actually proud of you.
Here's a tut I made with tablet. It's eye painting, but you may find it useful for other parts as well :] (mute it if you don't like the music :p)

Seriously, you are like the Leonardo Da Vinci of tablets in my eyes right now I dunno if I should make a new one for this or not, but I drew my friend :D
you need to work on anatomy and perspective. well that may not look like your friend xD but you can get some ideas from it.

It's almost embarrassing to see my work compared to yours. You have so much pen control, I want to learn to be like you! :D
