[release] Today is the talk of the day in the cafe Half buddy at the Kleiweg in Rotterdam. A cozy evening in the pub yesterday was disrupted by a robber armed with a fake weapon tried to rob the cafe. But the robber ran very differently than he probably expected. Because the real Rotterdam regulars of the pub were to put it mildly impressed by the robber with balaclava, and even of his firearm. That also turned out to be fake. The images of the surveillance is to see that nobody seems to resent the presence of the thief. He even urged to step aside, so that a visitor back to the cafe bar to sit. At one point it penetrates through the audience that the robber really a booty to do, but he can go whistle. "I just thought: he should just Go," says owner Henk van Beek. "I'm up to him, we saw him still in doubt, but he ran outside." When the regulars decided that the man should not just road may come, and they all ran after him. Unfortunately for the robber, is one of the regular visitors of The Buddy Half a marathon runner. The thief was not so far, and could later be transferred to the police. Van Beek: "I feel good about how it ended. Let it be a lesson for the next idiot who will try. " [/release] http://www.rijnmond.nl/nieuws/13-01-2012/cafebezoekers-jagen-overvaller-weg Got a better source, thanks to timmyvos!
I was howling when I watched this. The way they all just legged it after him was great.
the customers are all "we aint even mad."
Ah yes, read about this in the paper. As a Dutch guy myself, I can tell you crime is fairly commonplace in Rotterdam. But even with that, the reaction is priceless.
The Dutch have made "Not giving a shit" into an art.
Don't mess with T Halve Maatje.
Makes me proud to be half Dutch.
This is the best shit, seriously. Don't give a fuck, and then give chase as soon as he leaves.
What if the robber had some mental issues and actually shot someone? Not giving a fuck might seem like a badass idea, but it is risky as fuck.
And then when everyone leaves to chase that guy. The lowlifes come in and steal everything
[release] This is hilariously pitiful. An armed robber stormed a bar and demanded everyone give him their money. Usually, everyone freaks out and hands over everything they have. Not in this case. At this bar in Rotterdam, everyone ignored the robber and kept drinking. Wait... what? Yes! Even when the robber waved his gun in their faces, everyone just went about their business of getting drunk. When the robber realized he couldn't get money, he lowered his demands to just a pack of cigarettes. He couldn't even get that. The barkeep just told him to get the hell out. The man with a gun was told to shut up. Just priceless. Realizing defeat, the robber finally left the bar. BUT IT GETS BETTER. As he leaves, the entire bar decides to chase him down. Yes, they're chasing a man down who's armed with a gun. The bar patrons finally catch up to the woeful robber and nab him a mile away from the bar. The police is called, the robber is arrested and the weakest robbery attempt in robbing history has been put on the Internet. At least be good at being bad, guy. [/release] http://gizmodo.com/5885443/watch-the-saddest-robbery-attempt-ever-caught-on-a-security-camera Sorry for using the shitty gizmodo as a source. If any dutch could provide me with a source, that would be nice.
http://www.rijnmond.nl/nieuws/13-01-2012/cafebezoekers-jagen-overvaller-weg The source is RTV Rijnmond, a local TV station in the Rotterdam area. This story has, however, been picked up by some more respectable newspapers and television stations.
Oh god that article translation makes my head hurt.
Oh man, that's like a scene from a comedy.

What if one of them had pulled a gun on the robber and a firefight had ensued, which could injure and kill several of the other people?
Laugh until he comes back with a real gun.
That'll be even funnier when he bottles it. [editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
What if one of them had pulled a gun on the robber and a firefight had ensued, which could injure and kill several of the other people?
the shooter would have to have shit aim.
Laugh until he comes back with a real gun.
It's not that easy to get a gun in the Netherlands.
At one point it penetrates through the audience that the robber really a booty to do, but he can go whistle.
I see!
I hope those people got free drinks for life. :)
"When the regulars decided that the man should not just road may come, and they all ran after him. Unfortunately for the robber, is one of the regular visitors of The Buddy Half a marathon runner." So let me get this straight, The man tried to just road may come, but the robber is one of the regular visitors of the buddy half a marathon runner?
Laugh until he comes back with a real gun.
We're not talking about drugs, you get those quite easily, you barely have a chance to get a gun here though.
Rotterdam<3
I wish people were this chill in America. This would only happen if everyone in the bar was drunk out of their minds. People here become hysterical so quick that it's stupid. It's like everyone here has embraced the mentality of high school popularity and just follow the crowd without ever thinking for themselves.

Looks more like a Benny Hill Sketch.

I'd like to see how you would act if someone was holding a gun up to you, and you have no idea if he will shoot or not.
haha this is awesome, always liked dutch people
Holy fuck that could of turned out so bad. The locals are all like "I don't give a fuck", but what if the gun was real and nobody paid attention to him and he shot someone to show he was serious.
