I remember reading a news article about the be bionic arm. It's an amazing piece of tech for amputees, but the technology isn't that amazing, so I don't reccomend cutting your arm off to get one.
At least not yet.
cutting an arm off to replace it with a synthetic one? never [editline].[/editline] think about it
At least not yet.
I always asked for this :v:

I was looking for that stupid comment in the previous video thread for this where someone said "I want to cut my arm off to get this!"
This is ridiculously awesome. Not in the "omg i want augments lolz i didn't ask for this" way, but look at the damn thing. This is a working robot hand. It's obviously not perfect, but they're advancing so quickly, and it even looks awesome. I seriously hope this thing gets to an affordable price and becomes a standard thing.
Oh god I cringed when he snapped his hand off that was so sudden
Oh god I cringed when he snapped his hand off that was so sudden
That was a pretty awesome moment. Apparently these things come in a very life-like glove that looks exactly like an arm, so it doesn't always look so robotic for casual use, although you can get a black one that's more futuristic if you prefer it. "Oh, it's fake?" *removes hand* "SURPRISE FUCKERS"
The point in which this tech gets over the uncanny valley, and feels natural to use, and has the mobility of a real arm (which it is pretty close to already, and it's still in a prototypish tech phase) and isn't referred to as an "it" is when it'll become possible to start an industry like in a certain fictional videogame universe. The adverse effects on human society would be tremendous, and I'm not only getting this from deus ex. I can't imagine the possible changes from a technology that can literally turn your limbs into metal, and possibly even extend the utility of them.

Like a special holder thing for powertools or just a powertool hand attachment, or something like that.
Does it allow you to build minisentries?
Father Grigori?
Father Grigori?
HAHAHHAAH! That noise would get a bit annoying, but other than that it's great to see technology like this. [sp] Now I don't have to sit on my arm to do the "stranger" [/sp]

Also, soldiers with lost arms getting augs and shooting better? "Better accuracy - 1x PRAXIS KIT"

You know what... Just being able to give the sign for roadrage, whilst the wrist just twirls around, makes me wanna cut my fucking arm off, and get a robot arm myself!
Analia1ish 1 hour ago This comment has received too many negative votes Weezy1983 Is so blind to the truth he doesn't realize God is the reason why humans are able to come up with technological advances. Dudes like you are* forever stuck in their own ways. God bless you!
Nice one, youtube.
When he does that 360 rotate... so weird.

jesus christ that looks bad ass I mean im not saying that its a good thing he's missing an arm or that bionic limbs are at all awesome but holy damn that thing looks absolutely kick ass. I mean if I lost an arm in an accident or something at least I would comfort myself knowing that getting one of those bad boys is a possibility.
When he took his hand of I wondered, can he attach a flamethrower to it?
I remember seeing a video of a soldier with a be bionic arm. He made the robot hand form the "f*ck you" pose (flipping the bird) and spinning the hand around in a 360, it was funny as hell.
How is that attached to the upper arm?
Could someone explain the science behind this? I mean I've googled it a little bit but I don't quite understand.
He operates it by flexing muscles in his upper arm, there are sensors in it that monitor their activity. AFAIK there is no neural connection so he can put it down whenever he likes. Then there are simple hydrolics/servo motors/whatever to move the fingers, it's quite ancient tech, but it works.
That's so impressive holy shit, would it be stupid of me to say that we'll have this technology near-perfected (if not already perfect) in about 10 years? :v:
I wonder if he masturbates with that hand.
