• Anti-Tea Party E-Mail Sparks Controversy in Jacksonville, FL
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An e-mail clearly sent by an employee of the Duval County School District takes aim at the tea party movement and its members, blatantly calling them racists -- accusations that have left local members of the movement angry and disappointed. Cynthia Jones-Humphrey, technical manager in the department of Community and Family Engagement, sent the e-mail, titled "Why We Must Vote!" from her school account on Monday morning. The e-mail encourages people to vote a straight Democratic ticket because, "The Republican Party has been hi-jacked by dangerous, radical hate mongers called the 'Tea party.'" The e-mail goes on: "These people hate Blacks. They hate Latinos. They hate Gays. They hate Muslims and have made many anti-Semitic statements." Lynne Holicky, the government affairs liaison with the local tea party, was offended by the e-mail. "If anyone with the tea party made statements like this in writing, they would no longer be a part of the tea party," Holicky said. Humphrey's six-paragraph e-mail continued: "Fear that these radicals could take this country back past Jim Crow, they hey-day of the Ku Klux Klan -- all the way back to the 1860s. Don't think it could happen? Just stay home on Election Day and see what happens to this country." It's not known how many people were on Jones-Humphrey's distribution list, but she asked recipients to forward her e-mail to at least 15 people. "She's very angry and I don't know why. I feel badly for her. I think she's misinformed and misguided," Holicky told Channel 4's Vickie Pierre. "Anytime you disagree with the president you're a racist, and this is what's been going on for a long time, and it's really gone so far." Pierre tried calling Humphrey, but the message was not returned. Al the school district would say is that Humphrey made an error in judgment and the situation has been handled internally. The school district also sent Channel 4 its extensive policy regarding employee use of computers and e-mails, and said what Humphrey did was a clear violation. "Honestly, with the press she's getting now, I fear she's fearing the pain of her decision," Holicky said. "I wouldn't ask that she be fired. That's not my place." "She's very angry and I don't know why... I think she's misinformed and misguided" This coming out of a teabagger.
it's not like he's wrong
"If anyone with the tea party made statements like this in writing, they would no longer be a part of the tea party," Holicky said.
Prove this bitch wrong, quickly!
it's not like he's wrong
Some individuals within the tea party are racist. The party itself is not.
Some individuals within the tea party are racist. The party itself is not.
pretty much all of them are bigots, not necessarily racists, but bigots in some shape or form
Same could be said for Republicans and Democrats, as well...
Same could be said for Republicans and Democrats, as well...
more so the Republicans since it's primarily made up of conservatives. the tea party mainly consists of conservatives. [editline]8th November 2010[/editline] the majority of teabaggers are Republicans or favor Republicans
I'd say Tea Party ideals lean more towards a Libertarian standpoint, but yeah, many of them are disillusioned Republicans...
I'd say Tea Party ideals lean more towards a Libertarian standpoint, but yeah, many of them are disillusioned Republicans...
libertarians are basically republicans without the religion
Some individuals within the tea party are racist. The party itself is not.
You my friend have never been to a tea party rally. I went to a counter protest in Seattle and I can tell you for sure about 99.9% of all the tea partyers are racist.
Duval county is also shit. even the county im in is shit. all florida's countys are shit (except whatever one lake bunea vista is in).
libertarians are basically republicans without the religion
I don't think so. Most conservatives actually see the Republican party as being too centrist, too far to the left. Just a slowear method of achieving the same means as the Democrats. The Libertarian party stands pretty much for what the GOP used to...
Duval county is also shit. even the county im in is shit. all florida's countys are shit (except whatever one lake bunea vista is in).
overall, florida is way too conservative. some areas are pretty liberal, but I'd say the majority of the state is conservative. I hate everyone who voted for Rubio/Scott.
The Tea Party can hardly be called a grassroots movement, they've received millions of dollars in donations from Republicans and Private Interests
overall, florida is way too conservative. some areas are pretty liberal, but I'd say the majority of the state is conservative. I hate everyone who voted for Rubio/Scott.
my parents said it's good that he won because he's republican. i asked them what would he do to change the place and they didn't know. :saddowns:
if anything, they'll just make things worse they're both republicans, and rubio is a teabagger
Some individuals within the tea party are racist. The party itself is not.
It's not a party, though.
It's not a party, though.
They are trying to become their own separate party.
They are trying to become their own separate party.
I don't think they'll succeed
I'd say Tea Party ideals lean more towards a Libertarian standpoint, but yeah, many of them are disillusioned Republicans...
Oh God, how can you call the Tea Party Libertarian? Maybe a year ago when they were protesting economic spending, but from a social standpoint they're anything but.
overall, florida is way too conservative. some areas are pretty liberal, but I'd say the majority of the state is conservative. I hate everyone who voted for Rubio/Scott.
The reason Florida is too conservative is the old people.
"She's very angry and I don't know why... I think she's misinformed and misguided" This coming out of a teabagger.
The circle is complete.
Libertarian party stands pretty much for what the GOP used to...
Yes, like racism
Some individuals within the tea party are racist. The party itself is not.
The founders are racist. Some people in it may not be, but the ideals are

[editline]8th November 2010[/editline] the majority of teabaggers are Republicans or favor Republicans
They're trying to make themself out to be an entire seperate party. Also to be conservative, that generally implies you know enough about the economy to have an opinion on how it should be worked. The tea baggers don't know jack shit about anything other than " TAXES ARE TOO HIGH!" [editline]8th November 2010[/editline]
The founders are racist. Except maybe Muslims...
Yes, like racism
Haha you're saying this about the party that ended slavery and started civil rights. Way to go. [editline]9th November 2010[/editline]
The founders are racist. Some people in it may not be, but the ideals are
And the ideals are racist how? We've been through this before.. and I know what you're likely to say.
WEll you see, strider, I know the concept of thought is foreign to you, but if you are a racist and you establish a movement... your movement is fucking racist
Haha you're saying this about the party that ended slavery and started civil rights. Way to go.
Well I wouldn't quite say they started civil rights. You got one thing right though!
