Well i want to clean the Valve cover of my car. But i dont want to take it off o_o Do you guys recommend that ? Or should i get it off, get a new gasket and clean it ? And im also not sure if i would break somethin ...
Just do a regular engine wash? also why do you want to clean the inside anyway? also the bolts should be done in some patter which depends on your car so make sure you know that pattern first. You find those in the Haynes manuals
heres a picture of it: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/OhSud.jpg[/thumb] Also i dont really trust engine wash, because its damaging more then cleaning it up. I dont wanna clean the inside of the valve cover.. the "top" is just ugly.. The valve cover is actualy chrome'ish
just get some engine cleaner hose down everything first, then spray engine cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes but don't let it dry, then turn the car on and spray the cleaner off throughly
Washing your engine with cleaner and a hose is going to be no more damaging than driving while it's raining would be. It's right out in the open, easy to get to, spray some shit on it and wash it off, like jdk said. Not going to hurt anything. Don't need to take anything off.
It also might be a good idea to keep your engine running while cleaning, so if while your spraying around and the engine stops, you'll know what you sprayed that stopped the engine.
