hope it stars Jim Carrey again, he was a good Count Olaf.
Good. The movie didn't fit well at all, especially that Olaf ending.
I should really read the books sometime.

I liked how the movie adapted the books, for the most part. It wasn't perfect, but I think they nailed the overall style the books were going for.

i binge-read them in elementary school. they're crazy good.
When are they adapting The Littlest Elf?

Ending was sort of weird though. I liked what Snicket did with VFD though.
I remember seeing these books everywhere back in elementary school. It's like someone went back in a time machine and resurrected it.

I've read pretty much all of the books in the span of two months quite some time ago, and I absolutely adored the series!
All of them...but one. The very last one. I actually felt sad because I couldn't find a copy of it in the library I used to go to (which was where I found the series to begin with), and to this day, I still wish I could read it. :c
Also, that said, I actually never watched the movie. Is it just as good as the books?
It'd work far better as a series than as a movie.

He was too silly, for me. I imagined Olaf being unnerving, even to a slightly silly degree, maybe in a Tim Burton way, but nothing like Jim Carrey played him. He turned the movie into a comedy, which I supposed is where it tried to go, with dark humor, but I really want to see the series take a legitimately tragic route, where I want to see the leeches rip apart the woman, rather than it being implied and then joked upon.
i think this is the best thing ive heard in a while
“I can’t believe it,” Mr. Snicket, at an undisclosed location, said in a statement supplied by Netflix. “After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books.”
I forgot how much of a character the author made of himself in the original books.
I don't think I ever saw the movies though, wonder how a TV series will do.
I actually used to love the game based on this series. It was an average game, but it had memorable moments in it and it was fun.
Netflix needs something good and fresh
AW MAN
I'd totally watch that, however I cancelled my subscription a week ago
This series is why I'm afraid of mushrooms. Find the part about the grim grotto, [sp]where the mushrooms crawl down the little girl's mouth and nearly kill her,[/sp] it'll put you off them for a few days.

He was a character unto himself, and the books broke the fourth wall all the time. I remember in one of them, near the end of a page, he, midway through a sentence, mentioned how he loathed people who simply skimmed through novels to get the gist of them. Thing is, the sentence cut off halfway through because the page ended, and the next page continued on an entirely different sentence and kept going as if nothing had happened.

pretty sure i remember just about everything was potentially trying to kill them

I remember the 2 or so pages he filled with the word "ever" over and over again, and the two pages of just pure black ink

Lemony Snicket did just not give a shit :v:
The guy was doing an AMA on Reddit a week or two back, and he was just every slightly hinting at a possibility of another adaptation. I had hopes, but holy shit I was not expecting this. I am so happy right now.
I still have all 13 books somewhere. Translated, and with some errors (like VDF was adapted in Austere Academy like GPP, and in later books - GPV).
Enjoyed the shit out of them.
I really love that movie. And I love what Handler does to the author character.
fuckin loved those books when i was a kid, movie was good too
cant wait

Jim Carrey at least gave life to a somewhat forgettable movie. I hope they bring him back, and revise his role to be a little more dark.
Also remember that the movie was targeted towards children, so of course they aren't going to show a woman ripped apart my leeches.
Holy shit i cannot wait for this, massive fan of the book series and the movie
Holy shit that movie was in 2004? I had a huge crush on Emily Browning back then when I was a teenager.
