• Anti Social Behavior Laws to be Tightened Further in Police State Britian
Urban councils in England are calling for more powers to tackle deliberate and persistent antisocial behaviour. They want the automatic power of arrest for repeat offenders. They claim antisocial individuals and groups, in particular those who beg, have been allowed to "cause havoc". In a letter to the government, Birmingham, Nottingham, Slough, Southampton and City of Westminster councils criticised plans to replace antisocial behaviour orders (Asbos). 'Taking away stick' Under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill, so-called "injunctions to prevent nuisance and annoyance" (Ipnas) would replace Asbos. But, unlike with an Asbo, it would not be an explicit offence to breach an Ipna. A breach would instead be treated as contempt of court. The councils warn the proposals as they stand would "bark but won't bite".
What does this mean though? Well...
The “shockingly open-ended” orders could also be used to ban youngsters from skateboarding, forbid teenagers from using local parks and prevent demonstrators from gathering outside council offices, it has been claimed. Campaigners claim that the legislation is so loosely worded that the new powers could be used to stifle legitimate demonstrations and criminalise youngsters.
Here's the best bit. Abuses of the current Public Order Act have clearly demonstrated that the law needs to be relaxed, rather than tightened. The current Public Order Act, as Rowan Atkinson stated in his (should be) legendary Reform Section 5 speech, has led to several alarming exercises of power, such as "the man arrested in Oxford for calling a police horse ‘gay’.” The new Bill introduces Injunctions to Prevent Nuisance and Annoyance (IPNAs) to replace ASBOs, which were also widely abused. Scriptonite quotes some of these abuses, including: - Stuart Hunt of Loch Ness brought to court 100 times since 2007 for breaching an ASBO preventing him from laughing, staring or slow hand clapping. - Homeless, alcoholic and mentally ill Michael Gilligan given a 99 year ASBO rather than the welfare support that might have made a difference. - A profoundly deaf 17 year old girl given an ASBO and a jail sentence for spitting in the street. - A 13 year old banned from using the word ‘grass’ in England or Wales. - Manchester Council applied an ASBO to prevent a mobile soup kitchen from feeding the homeless. - Councils placing ASBOs on homeless people resulting in prison sentences for begging ‘earnestly and humbly’. - An 87 year old man was given an ASBO threatening a prison sentence if he was sarcastic to his neighbours.
What the fuck are british politicians humans or reptile brains in big jars that randomly select words in order to make laws?
Well, kids today deffo need some sorting out. I can't tell how good this is though, or if it's shit. I hope they figure out a way though.
Well, kids today deffo need some sorting out. I can't tell how good this is though, or if it's shit. I hope they figure out a way though.
It's good but the law is so loosely worded it could in theory be used to arrest people for the most trivial of annoyances.
Wow it really sounds like the U.K is going down the shit hole.
Well, kids today deffo need some sorting out. I can't tell how good this is though, or if it's shit. I hope they figure out a way though.
We already have people whose job it is to get kids to behave they're called parents
Yeah, but parents rarely do their job now. If we leave it to them, and try give children immunity to punishment from the law, they're just going to grow up and raise shit kids, and create an infinite cycle.
what the hell is antisocial behaviour? Avoiding a party? Staying in on a sunny day? Wearing plaid in poor taste? or being a sociopath?
The “shockingly open-ended” orders could also be used to ban youngsters from skateboarding,
Jesus, whoever wrote this is old enough to have an ear full of hair. They even used "Youngsters" in the article, did they use it in the documents too?
what the hell is antisocial behaviour? Avoiding a party? Staying in on a sunny day? Wearing plaid in poor taste? or being a sociopath? Jesus, whoever wrote this is old enough to have an ear full of hair.
Something often confused of asocial behaviour.
Wow it really sounds like the U.K is going down the shit hole.
While there is a definite need for reform, these cases are most certainly at the extreme end of spectrum.
- An 87 year old man was given an ASBO threatening a prison sentence if he was sarcastic to his neighbours. - A 13 year old banned from using the word ‘grass’ in England or Wales.
Isn't that sort of violating the freedom of speech?
Isn't that sort of violating the freedom of speech?
"Sit on the grass" "ARREST THAT BOY!" [editline]5th December 2013[/editline]
Something often confused of asocial behaviour.
it doesn't sound like a bad word by nature, just "oh he's not really social" but they make it seem like being sarcastic is a sign you're going to murder the fuck out of your mothers dog
A boy is banned from using the word ‘grass'? ......Are they fucking for real!? Seriously how fucking retarded can they get?
Sometimes i think that some british laws are on turkmenistan level of absurdity
A boy is banned from using the word ‘grass'? ......Are they fucking for real!?
I'd think you'd be more upset about the guy who's disallowed to fucking laugh.
that guy must have a really loud laugh or something, jesus christ, WHAT?
ASBO, arrests, what the fuck is this shit? I thought UK wasn't some sort of futuristic dystopia where people aren't allowed to be people.
I'd think you'd be more upset about the guy who's disallowed to fucking laugh.
Oh good, tell me something more that I don't know.
I'm not actually seeing a source here. That's pretty important when one of the claims is that someone was banned from LAUGHING. [editline]5th December 2013[/editline]
- Homeless, alcoholic and mentally ill Michael Gilligan given a 99 year ASBO rather than the welfare support that might have made a difference. - A 13 year old banned from using the word ‘grass’ in England or Wales. - Manchester Council applied an ASBO to prevent a mobile soup kitchen from feeding the homeless.
Yeah, this is bullshit.
Just... wow If i'm understanding this, they are trying to make it a crime to have mental disorders, or do things that kids normally do?
hopefully they can use this to take down those troublemakers who dont properly queue for their scones
Sorry here's some sauce for people, can't add to the OP because Garry. Its offensive when they compare countries like Britain and America to police states. Not offensive for the people living in those countries, but offensive for those who actually live under real police states.
Anti-Civil activity detected.
Thank fuck some one need to sort these scratters out
Stuart Hunt of Loch Ness brought to court 100 times since 2007 for breaching an ASBO preventing him from laughing, staring or slow hand clapping.
If that were me, I'd end up slow hand clapping at the idea of being taken to court for slow hand clapping. I'd be stuck in the most vicious cycle imaginable. This is the future of Britain.
The funny thing is despite all these Orwellian initiatives, towns and cities are still full of lawless yobbos terrorizing people, especially late at night.
I do sometimes wish Guy Fawkes did blow up The Houses of Parliament, or invent a time machine go back, being Ol'Guy here and with the U.K lack lustre security having a cuppa at the time, get him to do it now........sigh.
He wanted to blow up Parliment and install an authoritarian theocracy.
Yes, but it still would possibly better then Cameron and Clegg and nearly every other political party in this country at the moment.
