The Truman Show is a 1998 American comedy-drama film directed by Peter Weir and written by Andrew Niccol. The cast includes Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, as well as Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Ed Harris and Natascha McElhone. The film chronicles the life of a man who is initially unaware that he is living in a constructed reality television show, broadcast 24-hours-a-day to billions of people across the globe.
I absolutely love this movie. While the explanations given in the movie don't fully cover the logistics of running something this big, it doesn't honestly matter since the plot could work well regardless. My only real gripe with this film is that [sp] they reveal Sea Haven really is in a giant dome...but in the middle of the movie, which really spoils the ending since you knew he was going to crash the boat into the wall of the dome eventually.[/sp]
Overall, great film, highly recommend it.
All I can say is it's just a fantastic movie, no reason to not see this.
this film never gets old
My favorite jim carrey movie of all time.

Gonna have to go with The Mask on this one but this is easily one of his best
I remember watching this on TV a few years ago, it was enjoyable, to me at least. I recommend it too.
It shows Jim Carrey can do comedy and drama at the same time well. He's aloof, but grounded more than any other movie I've seen him in. Highly recommended.
This movie was alright. We watched it in my Philosophical Issues in Film class.
In my opinion it is one of the greatest movies of all time. The whole premiss of it and how it is set out is spectacular.
Jim Carrey is an amazing actor. This movie is proof.
Great movie
Cue the sun.
I love this movie. I should watch it again some time this week.
I love the scenes where it cuts to random people with a SHITLOAD of merchandise
Great movie, one of Jim Carrys best in my opinion.
Looking at it today, does the producer of the show remind anybody else of Steve Jobs?

Not really how he looks, more the behaviour and stuff.
I love this movie.

now that you mention it, the resemblance is creepy
One of my favorite movies of all time! I have both the DVD and the Soundtrack here. Watched is many times!

"Buy the second iPad Truman"
One of my all-time favorites! For some reason, the more I watch it, the more details I find in Truman's life and surroundings...
Marlon: [Emotional almost to the point of tears] The point is, I would gladly step in front of traffic for you Truman. And the last thing I would ever do to you...
Christof: [Feeding Marlon his lines] ... is lie to you.

Oh man that part gets me every time!

Dear mother of god...
I love this movie.
All that need be said, right there.
It's sad to think that today's reality shows are getting similliar to this..
Honestly some of the logistics stuff for doing anything on this scale in reality can just be dismissed like tides and sun/moon movement since Truman himself wouldn't know if there was anything wrong since he wouldn't have experienced anything else.
This is seriously one of the greatest films I've seen, I think I may even go rewatch it for the 4th or 5th time now that I've seen this thread.
i love where he [sp]just walks out of the dome like "fuck all your shit i'm a free man"[/sp]
Hahahaha, wow, the Steve Jobs thing is pretty surprising. And accurate
I always wanted the film to keep going after he left, seeing the reactions of himself and of the public.
I loved this movie so much. That last scene was just so perfect.
Truman
true man
