• Petition Before SCOTUS Seeks To Nullify Election
While the world is paying attention to theatrical battles over President Trump’s executive orders and cabinet nominees, a largely unnoticed and potentially landmark case sits before the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. A petition for a writ of mandamus seeking to nullify the results of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election sits on the SCOTUS docket. The main argument for the writ is that, per Article IV § 4 of the U.S. Constitution, it is the job of the federal government to keep U.S. territory safe from foreign invasion. The Constitution stipulates, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.” The petition cites evidence of such an invasion, namely the Russian hacking, and asks that the entire 2016 election be nullified, all the way back to the primaries, on the grounds that cyber-territory in the U.S. was invaded with the intention of altering the results of our Presidential election. The petitioners seek an entirely new election.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/12/1632869/-Petition-Before-SCOTUS-Seeks-To-Nullify-Election https://www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docketfiles/16-907.htm This is how Bernie can still win.
This is how Bernie can still win.
Just fucking imagine how ridiculously unforseen that outcome would be
the grounds that cyber-territory in the U.S. was invaded
This is truly a cyberpunk future
Holy shit, could you imagine if this actually passed? Probably not a civil war, Republicans would probably just crawl into their holes and bitch about liberals, but it would be the most historic political upset in US history.

The entire right wing would also be completely discredited.
Won't happen.
Won't happen.
I think it's only making news because of how outrageous it is.
Why can't people get over it? (The actual election) It's been nearly 5 months already. I don't like Trump myself but nothing short of actual voter fraud can change the outcome.
Won't happen.
Fake noohs
If it's actually heard then no matter what the decision it will be a landmark case in U.S. history. Any number of ways they go about the decision would set a massive precedent for the future.
the DNC is a private entity, if the russians hacked it, it's on them for not having strong security
Most likely the RNC and DNC were both hacked by Russia. This gave Russia the hand to have blackmail on all of the RNC and release DNC emails to further push Trump to victory.
the DNC is a private entity, if the russians hacked it, it's on them for not having strong security
State sanctioned cyberattacks with the intent of undermining the elections is the fault of the state that sanctioned the cyberattacks. What you just said is essentially "its the banks fault they got robbed for not having tighter security".

What you just said is essentially "its the banks fault they got robbed for not having tighter security".
Worse than that - he implied that Russia is totally within their rights to interfere with the elections of other countries, and the election shouldn't be considered illegitimate on those grounds. As for this case, we know it isn't going to go anywhere.
the DNC is a private entity, if the russians hacked it, it's on them for not having strong security
Party above country, I see.
I would laugh my fucking ass off if this got anywhere near passing. If the results of the election get nullified does that mean all actions done under Trump would be reversed? What a glorious day that would be.
I want it to happen. It won't, but for today, this is just a little ray of sunshine. I'm okay with that.
I would laugh my fucking ass off if this got anywhere near passing. And if he is some how nullified as well, then Ryan is president. There is no basis in american law to nullify an election or to redo one.
Why can't people get over it? It's been nearly 5 months already. I don't like Trump myself but nothing short of actual voter fraud can change the outcome.
People "can't get over it" because a massively and unashamedly corrupt, racist, sexist, unfit-for-position dickhead (among many other descriptors) was elected as the president of arguably the most powerful nation on earth and proceeded to staff every position he could get his hands on with whoever licked his asshole or paid their way in, mostly people cut from the same cloth as himself. Not to mention immediately proceeding to tear apart the rest of the country's future and / or implementing his moronic ideas. How's that for a reason? People shouldn't stop making a big deal out of it just because it bothers the apathetic.
Just fucking imagine how ridiculously unforseen that outcome would be
If somehow. Someway. Bernie become POTUS because of this. I would considered that the real meme magic.
There's not a chance in hell of this passing. Much as I want it to.
Why can't people get over it? It's been nearly 5 months already. I don't like Trump myself but nothing short of actual voter fraud can change the outcome.
You care about the future of your country, don't you?

However we shouldn't be focusing on trying to undo the election, we should be working towards impeachment or towards undoing his actions. Perhaps I worded my reply wrong.
All true. However we shouldn't be focusing on trying to undo the election, we should be working towards impeachment or towards undoing his actions. Perhaps I worded my reply wrong.
Your original post sounded like those 'he won, get over it' kind of shit that Trump supporters have been spewing, apologies for jumping on it.
If, IF the SCOTUS agrees and an election is called. I believe it would be the first time ever in American history where an early election was held? I can't back it up but I was under the assumption that for the last 200 or so years of the US existing, an election has always been held ever 4 years
This won't come to fruition, much to my dismay. The Republicans will fight tooth and nail to keep their seats with their grubby hands and line their pockets with supporters' money (months after the election has ended mind you) while promising more jobs, but lower taxes(???). Even if it did pass, what's to say the Republicans won't stand steadfast in their positions, ignoring the SCOTUS decision? They ignore everything else that doesn't boost their own ego, much like their own supporters. The Republicans truly are a pathetic lot at the moment, and using the false equivalence fallacy of saying "Democrats aren't good either" or "Democrats are just as bad" means that you're too fucking stupid to use critical thinking and maybe, just maybe, Democrat and Republican aren't the only 2 choices you can make. For a side that hails itself as "free thinkers" or "unlike the other 'libtards", they sure can't seem to shake the hivemind mentality. Long-term consequences always outweigh the short-term benefits, but they do not have the mental capacity to imagine it. But I digress, it won't happen.
No it means Pence will be president. And if he is some how nullified as well, then Ryan is president. There is no basis in american law to nullify an election or to redo one.
Wouldnt Pence get kicked out too because he and Trump were part of the same package?
If it's actually heard then no matter what the decision it will be a landmark case in U.S. history. Any number of ways they go about the decision would set a massive precedent for the future.
I very strongly suspect they'll refuse to touch it for that reason alone.
