Manchester United's final-day match against Bournemouth has been called off because of a suspect package.
Two stands - the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and the Stretford End - were evacuated before the home game against Bournemouth and sniffer dogs brought in to search the stands.
Kick-off, due at 15:00 BST, was delayed and shortly afterwards the match was abandoned on police advice.
An Army bomb disposal unit arrived at the stadium shortly afterwards.
Has been revealed that it was an explosive device attached to a gas pipe. Mad
Might have DNA on it. The terrorists probably didn't account for that when making it as they probably assumed it would explode and therefore not matter.

m8 they already destroyed it.
i think it was planted because they were scared to lose and not make it into the champions league in humiliation.
Attached to a gas pipe? Sounds like someone was attempting to create a fairly decent sized fireball. Glad to hear they caught this in time. If the explosive is large enough, probably could of set the entire city bloc ablaze.
man united so would have drawn against bournemouth and failed anyway.
they're such a humiliating team i feel shame to have supported them back in the day....
Greater Manchester Police described the device as "incredibly lifelike" but confirmed it "wasn't viable".
Bomb wasn't even an intentional hoax, it was a training device.

Imagine if it was supposed to have been a real one but the idiot who put it there grabbed the wrong bomb on the way out of his house.

Well, could they have asked for a better test than this? :v:
So the match was cancelled because of a training device, found by someone because it was meant to be found to be suspicious in case of a real device was planted?
I mean I see the merit in it.
