David Slade has been tapped to put Daredevil back on the bigscreen for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
Fox first introduced the Marvel Comics superhero at megaplexes in 2003, in an actioner that starred Ben Affleck as the blind lawyer-turned-vigilante who wears a red suit and wields a billyclub.
Though the film wound up spinning off "Elektra" with Jennifer Garner, studio had hopes higher than its $103 million domestic take and unrealized franchise potential.
New Regency produced first pic with Fox, but is not connected to the new project.
Fox has been eager to redevelop the character since, but studio is quick to say the new project shouldn't be considered a reboot per se -- more a continuation of the "Daredevil" saga. Studio has yet to hire a new scribe, but writer would work closely with Slade.
Fox retained "Daredevil" rights by keeping the project in development over the years; had they not, rights would've reverted to Marvel Studios, which Disney acquired for $4 billion in 2009. Same goes for "Fantastic Four," of which Fox is eyeing new installments.
Though Daredevil doesn't rank as one of Marvel's most popular properties, character does have a following.
Created by Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett in 1964, Matt Murdock is a New York City lawyer who, after being blinded by radioactive material, finds his other senses heightened to superhuman levels and becomes Daredevil -- the "man without fear."
Slade has been considering several comicbook properties, including Fox's "Wolverine," but that gig wound up going to Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan").
Slade most recently directed "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which earned $698 million at the worldwide box office. His credits also include Sony's "30 Days of Night" and Lionsgate's "Hard Candy."
Although no actor's been mentioned yet as the new Matt Murdock, we don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that someone at Fox hasn't at least thought of Slade's Twilight leading man, Robert Pattinson, for the title role.

daredevil was a bad movie
Great. So Daredevil was a terrible movie to begin with, and now the remake of the remake will be appropriately worse. I won't be surprised if they do a crossover and have him fight sparkly vampires.
I thought DD was ok back when I saw it, when I was very young, I recall enjoying it in all honesty. Today I have a particular interest with blind role play characters.
But this can not be good if it's made by this guy.
Just like the twilight directors other movies, the main character will be a girl and she will be torn between 2 boys
the directors have nothing to do with the story.
Daredevil's director's cut was actually considerably better. It was so much better that it went from being "bad" to "a little better than 'OK.'"
The theatrical version had an entire story arc removed from it for some reason, and it was one that made the movie far more interesting. It'd be like if Lord of the Rings cut all the Mordor bits.
That said, fuck a reboot. I'm pretty sick of seeing movies that came out less than ten years ago get reboots. Fifteen? Twenty years? Sure, maybe. But come on. At this rate we'll have reboots in the works before the original is even out of theaters.
the directors have nothing to do with the story.
unless the director wrote the story, which in this case he didn't
Daredevil's signature weapon is his specially-designed billy club, which he created. Disguised as a blind man's cane in civilian garb, it is a multi-purpose weapon and tool that contains thirty feet of aircraft control cable connected to a case-hardened steel grapnel. Internal mechanisms allow the cable to be neatly wound and unwound, while a powerful spring launches the grapnel. The handle can be straightened for use when throwing. The club can also be split into two parts, one of which is a fighting baton, the other of which ends in a curved hook.
Girlish version of Daredevil, won't watch.

26 year old daredevil falls in love with annoying bratty 16 year old girl. Stupidly unneeded dramatic scenes, DareDevil finally saves the day. They have kids together.
What? Edward was WAY older than that skank from Twilight, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if things went his way.
You people should really check out his other films before assuming his next movie will be Twilight-fied or what not.

To raise blind awareness.
No. Just no. The Little Red Riding Hood movie is going to be bad enough as it is.
That was another director.
Tackles it right off a cliff into oblivion.
I don't get your point
My point is I didn't read the fucking thread and I should delete my post.
Welp there goes my hope for a good Daredevil movie
he made Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night.
Ok this might not be terrible.
The director is not responsible for the story
How would you have responded if the title said "30 Days of Night" Director Tackles "Daredevil"
[editline]18th March 2011[/editline]
He also directed
Hard Candy (2005)
30 Days of Night (2007)
not just Twilight.
Stop bashing it just because he directed a shitty movie. It is not his fault it was shitty.
Maybe girls can start liking the same things I like after this.
