BBC accused of Brexit bias by more than 70 MPs in open letter
One example is the prominent coverage given to so-called “regretful Remainers” in the aftermath of the vote, even though all available polling suggests no shift in public opinion towards the EU since the vote,” Mr Knight added in his blog.
The letter adds: “It particularly pains us to see how so much of the economic good news we’ve had since June has been skewed by BBC coverage which seems unable to break out of pre-referendum pessimism and accept new facts.
“Some of the signatories of this letter shared many of the concerns about the economic impact of Brexit, but all are delighted to find forecasts of immediate economic harm were at best misplaced. So-called ‘despite Brexit’ reporting may be expected of a partisan press, but licence fee-payers have the right to expect better.”
But in a response the BBC said: “While we are always live to our critics and understand that passions are running high on all sides of the debate, it is the job of the BBC to scrutinise and analyse the issues on behalf of the public and to hold politicians to account across the political spectrum. Tories ruined the NHS, gave the royal family a bonanza they didnt need, are planning to spend a ton on oil and gas, investments in the country are down, and the government doesnt even look like it knows what it's doing with such an early call for an exit.
The former UK is dead! long live the former UK!
And yet these politicians sat in silence when the sun printed the words "Queen backs Brexit", which was a total fabrication and utterly untrue, In large bold letters on it's front cover.
Even if I supported Brexit, these two faced lying backstabbing spineless self serving conservative bastards are the last people I would even consider to be in charge of the procedure.

I feel they're just hamming it up on purpose.

it's not exactly proven she didn't say it, but this doesn't make the BBC right though does it!

Burden of proof lies upon the accuser, all we have to go on is rumours and hearsay as to weather or not she said it and the official stance by the royals on such a matter will always be that she never said anything one way or the other.
Anywho, the BBC is not "wrong" what they are reporting on is true, it might be biased but it is true.
“It particularly pains us to see how so much of the economic good news we’ve had since June has been skewed by BBC coverage which seems unable to break out of pre-referendum pessimism and accept new facts.
What good news? The pound has tumbled in value, inflation is going up, government borrowing is going up, etc. The only "good news" has been the BoE's and the government's growth projections, although they're hardly going to look anything but optimistic in the face of the largest economic shakeup for a generation.

it's never biased if it fits with your opinion.

Growth increased by a whole 0.1%! To say nothing of that, service sector growth reached a 5 month low, Growth forecast for the next year will be 1.2% or less, the weakened pound made prices shoot up for manufacturers, housing prices are going up, the homelessness law was completely trashed (to save what money? costs will go up overall thanks to the loss of that program), and forecasts say that the economy could suffer more if the consequences of the referendum get more negative. There are some positives but it isn't sunshine and roses until one year passes and we see the current levels of growth and wages maintained.

nobody suggested that the BBC can't ever report without bias.

Of course not, because that article fits your opinion

it's pretty much business as usual, contrary to project fear. still early days.
amusing how you have gone from "The former UK is dead! long live the former UK!" to "There are some positives but it isn't sunshine and roses until one year passes and we see the current levels of growth and wages maintained." in 2 posts, as well as cherry picking only negative points from the article.

you're welcome to show me where the bias is in that article!
I love how you just back pedal from your complete attack on the BBC when you were just using their apparent bias to counter any criticism of the leave campaign
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36956418
I don't know what you're attempting to suggest. This article makes it clear that things are going well for those who export, are looking to sell a house, or have lots of savings, but everyone else is suffering due to either a real decline or an uncertain future.

i love how you got to "complete attack" when all I did like anyone else here was post a relevant news item.
i didn't write the article by the way.
UK Bohemian, they can't be helped. Let them keep thinking the BBC is in some way reputable.
The only person here who might defend some of your opinions in this section is me and - and they've already decided that I'm talking crap, whatever I say.
People have already taken sides in Globalism vs Nationalism. The BBC has decided to go with Globalism, as have pretty much everyone in this discussion section (apologies if that's not you).
It's their religion now, you can't convince them otherwise. Let's just leave them to it.

you said "what good news?" you didn't specify who the good news might be for.
folks in the UK really aren't suffering any more or less than in June.
i really don't understand why you are pretending that anything is really any different yet.
Didn't read the second half of my post it seems

it's more that they want Brexit to fail because they have an undying belief it will.

Whilst I would rather not live in a shithole of a country, if brexit does fail and causes us to plunge into economic turmoil I will quite rightly hold every brexit voter accountable and blame them for it.
you said "what good news?" you didn't specify who the good news might be for.
Okay then, I'll change my statement to "what good news is there for the average person?"
folks in the UK really aren't suffering any more or less than in June.

Because things are different. Prices for food, fuel, and other items have gone up largely thanks to the weakened pound. The cost of holidays and importing foreign goods have increased for the same reason. Wage growth is slowing. The country isn't going to crumble tomorrow, but these are all bad things, particularly for those with lower incomes.
The BBC is one of the most impartial news organisations in the goddam world. I treasure it.
If Brexit had so far made us much better off, and we had secure trade deals, an idea of what it'll be like in 2 years, and were making other improvements across the country I'm 100% sure they'd report on it.
But they haven't, so far things are either worse, or about the same. Saying otherwise is asking them to report on hearsay, that's not being unbiased.
it's more that they want Brexit to fail because they have an undying belief it will.
Nobody wants Brexit to fail, because if Brexit fails, the english people are fucked. It's just that if you throw yourself in the lion's cage, people are going to go "Yup he's gonna get eaten", simply because that's the logic conclusion of somebody doing a dumbass decision. If you manage to escape unscathed good for you, but getting incredibly lucky in a terrible situation doesn't make you smart.

As someone who's only somewhat versed in macroeconomics, it's fucking hilarious to see so many idiots as of late basically advocating mercantilism without having even the most basic understanding of the mathematical benefits that international trade has on an economy as a whole. Meanwhile, you'll probably also see the same people arguing for heavy tariffs in the same breath as they attack taxes, without realizing that both are mechanically identical.
You poor fucks haven't figured out some key bit of economic theory that nobody's noticed before, you're advocating the discredited economic policy that led the American colonies to revolt, rofl.
Considering ph:lxyz's tone, it sounds like he's not going to stick around to argue the point either... Hmmm.
