Nickelodeon Reviving another Nicktoon - As Told By Ginger
Just over a month after the news announcement of the Hey Arnold TV Movie, it looks like another Nicktoon is getting revived, it's none other than As Told By Ginger. The show focuses mainly on the life of junior-high-school student Ginger Foutley. She, along with her friends Darren Patterson, Dodie Bishop and Macie Lightfoot, all try to rise from the position of school geeks as they solve many conflicts that come their way. Luckily for Ginger, the most popular girl in school, Courtney Gripling, has taken a liking to her and often includes her in her social plans. She is intrigued by her (what Courtney calls them) 'gingerisms'. However, Miranda Killgallen, Courtney's right hand woman, makes sure that she is not bumped down from her position thanks to Ginger. At home, Ginger records her lively adventures in her diary. Her little brother Carl, is often scheming with Hoodsey Bishop in his own side plots; and her mother, Lois, is always there for advice, which Ginger is always open to listen to.
Russell Hicks and Chris Viscardi exclusively told MoviePilot that Nickelodeon in working on an As Told By Ginger revival with the original creator Emily Kapnek on board, the show will focus be a continuation after the events of The Wedding Frame, when the gang is in high school and will focus on the ups and down on the life of Ginger Foutley.
The new series will be mainly aimed at Nickelodeon's current audience and it may have some tweaks to keep the show relevant “You have to remember people who are going to watch really don’t have a recollection of ‘As Told By Ginger,’” he added. “You have to make it relevant to them but also nod to the audience that is going to be interested.”
it was an okay show I guess
This show was awful when it aired and I'll bet it'll be even worse a second time around
I hope we get more bra stuffing episodes.
Nobody asked for this
Of all the shows to revive . . . . it's this one that gets it?
Not KaBlam (aka Robot Chicken for kids before RC was a thing), Hey Arnold (creator pitched a more mature show called The Patakis around the time the movie he wanted to make the movie [which would have gone further into how their family's rather depressing synergy], would have been on MTV but honestly would be perfect for The 90s are All That), My Life as a Teenage Robot or Invader Zim?
Chalk zone would've been good too :frown:
I just remember As told by ginger for being ugly as shit

Hey Arnold has been confirmed to be coming back, with the Jungle movie in tow
The mouth placement on the characters always bothered me so much that I hated this show.

it was fucking creepy looking

they look like the kind of drawings a kid who bites people would make
Why did they revive one of the worst shows nick aired. Why not fucking Rocko's modern life, angry beavers, or Doug.
This show was the show you'd watch because absolutely nothing else was on.
Where are my fucking Angry Beavers?
Bring back rocko instead. I miss bighead.
I wonder if they'd be able to bring back Ren and Stimpy, ever. I can't believe that show was allowed to air back then and I don't know if it's safe to bring it back now.
This show was irritating to look at.
as told by gingers artstyle is terrible
why are you making me look at it again

It's definitely not safe to bring back now
Nick needs their own "adult swim"

Disney actually owns the rights to Doug now.

There was this shortly on spike but got canceled. Nick Collabed with Channel Frederator before, would nice to see them have their own segment of pilots, adult cartoons and obscure animations.

Well damn did not know that.

That's a bit different. This is a series revival rather than just a movie.

They've been airing it on The 90s are All That/The Splat consistently for years now. It's currently out of the rotation now, however, but still appears.
It seems to be that they are giving priority to the old Nicktoons that could translate into, for lack of a better term, "reality" animated series. It would not surprise me if Doug or some incarnation of Rugrats was in the works next.
If that is the case, then odds are a Rocko reboot is most likely a no go. What with how cartoons that are slapstick and funny apparently don't get ratings if they aren't a 20 minute long commercial.

clearly the superior choice of classic nick shows

I thought it was obvious when they began airing it on saturday mornings under one saturday morning. :v:
Keep that.
Why. That is all I have to say. Why.
Really missing out on a goldmine here Nick
Are they hoping to appeal to a specific demographic with this show? I don't remember it being particularly good.
Damn, Nick must be really hurting for ratings if they're going for the "only 90s kids remember" crowd
as told by gingers artstyle is terrible

It's part of the damn Klasky-Csupo art style. It was okay in Rugrats but not in anything else, who ever thought it looked good?
why did they pick the worst klasky csupo cartoon to revive
why can't we get more rocket power
kids these days could use some more extreme sicknasty in their lives
[editline]10th January 2016[/editline]
rocket power all grown up
episode 4 "Twister's Doing Meth Again"
Jesus christ what's with the negativity surrounding the show in here? It had interesting characterization and developments for a kids show. Macie coming out of her shell, Miranda mellowing out from being a stuck-up bitch, hell the bra stuffing episode crap was the primary characters banding together to prevent some bullying for a generally disliked character out of heart. What's with you folks?

Can you actually say what was wrong with it or what?
