[h=1]Anti-Wall Street protesters arrested in New York[/h] The protesters' placards carried demands about a range of causes At least 80 people have been arrested during an anti-Wall Street march in New York's financial district. Several hundred people took part in Saturday's march, which was intended to draw attention to "corporate greed and corrupt politics" in the US. Participants carried banners supporting a range of other issues, including healthcare reform, an end to US wars and the scrapping of the death penalty. The march came after a week of protests by the Occupy Wall Street campaign. The loosely organised group says it is defending 99% of the US population against the wealthiest 1%, and had called for 20,000 people to "flood into lower Manhattan" on 17 September and remain there for "a few months". Protesters, who are mostly young, initially numbered some 1,500 but their numbers had fallen to about 200 by Saturday's march. There was a heavy security presence in the district, with police deploying nets to block off major roads including Fifth Avenue and to protect the New York Stock Exchange. Corporate 'enemy' One protester, 21-year-old Ryan Reed, said he joined in "because what I see - and what I feel most people in this country see - is an economy and a system that's collapsing". Police said most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct "The enemy is the big business leaders of Wall Street, the big oil company leaders, the coal company leaders, the big military industrial leaders." A number of placards also called for "justice for Troy Davies", the US man executed in Georgia last week amid widespread criticism. Police said most of Saturday's arrests were for disorderly conduct and blocking traffic, but one person was charged with assaulting a police officer. One officer also suffered a shoulder injury, said police. They have not commented on protest organisers' comments that there had been an "unprecedented level of police aggression" on display. A statement on the Occupy Wall Street website said the protesters have "an interest in returning the US back into the hands of its individual citizens". "Our nation, our species and our world are in crisis. The US has an important role to play in the solution, but we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies if our nation." Inspired by urban occupations in cities including Madrid, Cairo and Tunisia, they have said they will camp out in Zuccotti Park, a private park near the financial district, until their demands are met.
Sauce: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15051554
Unless they were violent they had no right to arrest them
It says most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct, i.e. throwing things or just being violent in general.
Or blocking traffic. It is hard though with a large crowd to actually get the fuck out of the road once you're there, which sucks for the people in front, closest to the police.
Well the corporations runs America, do something or sit in the corner and cry like a little bitch.
Protip: If you don't want your protest to be broken up by the police, inform City Hall or your local municipal authority that you're doing it in advance, when and where. Typically they like to know this information so they can redirect traffic and they'll usually send a police officer or two to watch over and make sure nothing turns violent, break up arguments and so on. The reason most of these protests are broken up are because they're random, disrupt traffic, close sidewalks and become aggressive sometimes. But I hate how people scream about treading on our rights and arresting people like it's '1984' when if they had done the responsible thing they would be picketing to their hearts content. The arrests were all for disorderly conduct anyway.
"Hello, is it ok If I start a riot on wall street? "
No, not a riot, a peaceful protest. They don't give a fuck if you sit there on the sidewalk for months, it's not like they have to listen to you. So long as you're not blocking traffic or trying to beat the shit out of people.
Here we go, never thought I'd see it now, protests. Let's just hope that this doesn't escalate into giant shitstorm rioting.

Although it is fun watching everyone having a camera and the people just rabble on.

People are fucking idiots. "OMFG UR ARRESTING ME FOR THROWING SHIT AROUND AND BLOCKING TRAFFIC?!?! NAZISSSSS"
People are fucking idiots. "OMFG UR ARRESTING ME FOR THROWING SHIT AROUND AND BLOCKING TRAFFIC?!?! NAZISSSSS"
Quick funfact, Some of the people who were arrested weren't even part of the protest.
"To Protect & To Serve" the interests of the pigs.
protip: if you want to be taken seriously, say police officer, or even cop. Saying "fucking pigs!!!!" makes you sound like an angsty 13 year old anarchist
Fuck you guys I wanted to see how making subversive comments on the Internet felt like :(
It's okay you are still my hero.
It says most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct, i.e. throwing things or just being violent in general.
Taken out of wikipedia.
Typically, disorderly conduct makes it a crime to be drunk in public, to "disturb the peace", or to loiter in certain areas

Quick funfact, Some of the people who were arrested weren't even part of the protest.
That happens a lot with larger protests in NYC. Sometimes they'll just take that orange construction fencing stuff and wrap it around a whole group of people and force em onto a bus, like a mass arrest. You happen to get caught in it, you're usually going to have a nice long time chatting with the police for nothing. Granted that happens more when they either get violent, way too out of hand, or when it's bigger than NYPD (aka some feds involved.)
"To Protect & To Serve" the interests of the pigs.
yeah anarchy bro who needs laws man just fukkin break em man fuck the police anarchy all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think those people are in the wrong anywhere. You have to get a permit in America and let them get back to you with a good date. If that isn't infringing on constitutional right I don't know what is. But in this case they started a protest in the biggest powerful men in America so they got struck down and arrested. They were peaceful as well. I say millions rush back in there to show them what we mean. Of course its all young people because none of us want to live in a world run by the same greedy fucks that are in power now.
I don't think that warrants getting maced.
Are you an idiot? Here is what happened: Facebook - JOIN THIS GROUP PROTEST -HERE- on -THIS DATE- 200 People RANDOMLY show up at Wall-Street in New York City one of the most congested places in the world where traffic is insane on a good day. Now we've got people spilling into the streets and blocking up the sidewalks. Police come and say "You can't block traffic, you all have to go." The crowd, unfortunately is much like yourself and reply "FUCK THE PIGS" and proceed to become belligerent "YOU CAN'T TELL US NOT TO PROTEST ITS OUR RIGHT" and eventually one of them does something stupid, yells at a cop, hits or makes a move for him. Is detained, arrested, whatever. This incites the rest of them as you can see in the video "POLICE BRUTALITY POLICE BRUTALITY" and it gets out of hand from than on out. If everyone was just polite to one another none of these things would ever happen. I mean, come on. Someone gets arrested and all the sudden it's police brutality? Someone punches a cop and they push him down and it's police brutality? They seem to be abusing their rights more than the cops are abusing them. A bunch of college students that just learned their rights are pretty volatile group together.
These protests happen for a reason, if your government doesn't want them to happen then they should do some changes
