Elon Musk and his fellow engineers at SpaceX have combined the Leap Motion gesture-sensing controller, the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, and a metal-printing 3D printer to create “the future of design.” The video, published by SpaceX (embedded below) and starring Musk, shows what it might be like if engineers could create and manipulate designs with just their hands, like Tony Stark in Iron Man.
Apologies if late
The video doesn't really show any modelling done using this, which is what I find most interesting how they intend to do that. Yeah you can rotate the model, zoom and and so on, but how do they intend to actually do any modelling work with any precision using leap motion?
Appropriate.

jesus christ so much nostalgia I'm about to cry
Science, you can't possibly expect to be as cool as Hollywood.
Look at the mouse he has on the desk!

Iirc, you can hook up multiple leap motions together. they could create a 5 way leap motion box (Front, sides, top and bottom) they could get far greater accuracy in the hand motion because of all the different angles the gestures are being read at.
I'm more and more convinced Elon Musk is in fact the real-life equivalent of Tony Stark
Although sans the whole weapon manufacturing part.
[sp]Hopefully.[/sp]

Robert Downey Jr. based some his portrayal of Stark in Iron Man after Elon Musk.
Good for presentations, awful for anything else.
This technology needs to be implemented into KSP.

Well he did try to buy two soviet ICBM's but when that failed he built SpaceX so who knows his true motives!

Come again? Is he secretly planning world destruction?
Come again? Is he secretly planning world destruction?
He was aiming for Mars.

After he sold PayPal he went to Russia to negotiate the sale of some old ICBMs so that he could fund a mission to Mars to land a greenhouse there. It was going to have cameras so people could go online and watch earth life grow on Mars and hopefully this would attract people to the idea of manned missions. However the ICBM sale fell through and so Elon got the idea to make SpaceX. Which turned out a lot better on his wallet and for the future of humanity. The Mars greenhouse was going to be non-profit at his expense.

It's cool because he wanted to pay the Russians to give him some rockets, and when they said no he went and did it himself. Now the US Government, European Governments, and companies from all over the world pay him to put stuff in space. If Russia ever breaks down and contracts SpaceX it will be truly awesome.

Elon Musk himself appeared in Iron Man 2, plus they`ve used his SpaceX complex for Justin Hammer`s factory.
Holy shit Elon Musk uses an MX518, amazing taste in peripherals.
