"The digit ratio is the ratio of the lengths of different digits or fingers typically measured from the bottom crease where the finger joins the hand to the tip of the finger. It has been suggested by some scientists that the ratio of two digits in particular, the 2nd (index finger) and 4th (ring finger), is affected by exposure to androgens e.g. testosterone while in the uterus and that this 2D:4D ratio can be considered a crude measure for prenatal androgen exposure, with lower 2D:4D ratios pointing to higher androgen exposure. The 2D:4D ratio is calculated by measuring the index finger of the right hand, then the ring finger, and dividing the former by the latter. A longer index finger will result in a ratio higher than 1, while a longer ring finger will result in a ratio of less than 1. The 2D:4D digit ratio is sexually dimorphic: in males, the second digit tends to be shorter than the fourth, and in females the second digit tends to be the same size or slightly longer than the fourth. A number of studies have shown a correlation between the 2D:4D digit ratio and various physical and behavioral traits." So what the fuck does this even mean? Typically most men have ring fingers that are longer than their index fingers, which indicates a higher prenatal exposure to testosterone. This is linked as an indicator to a number of good things such as: penis size, fertility, male facial attractiveness, immune system function and even talent in sports. Fuck, so there's a bunch of ubermencsh out their just because they got lucky in the womb?? Not quite, really masculine ratios are linked with autism, psychopathy and even homosexuality (no I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I find the connotation that some really masculine dudes are gay from the get go kind of ironic) Conversely, most women have roughly equal ratios. Lesbian women have been found to have more masculine ratios. How do I measure this shit? (measure on right hand) Measure the index finger from the middle of the very bottom crease to the tip of the finger, likewise with the ring finger. Then divide the index finger by the ring finger measurement, the resulting answer is your ratio. Most men are typically around 0.97 (the lower ratios being more masculine), women typically just above 1. (higher ratios being more feminine) Fuck i scored <> my life is over abloo bloo, ill never be <> what should I do? Not really because the good news is nobody researching this really has any fucking idea. There is strong correlation to a variety of aspects, but within the field itself various researchers are reporting conflicting findings. For example, one group of researchers find that gay men often have more feminine ratios, then another group will find that excessively masculine ratios are an indicator for homosexuality, etc. At any rate it's interesting. are you saying i've got a tiny dick
they are both about the same size to me.
they are both about the same size to me.
In all seriousness I'm a faggot but I have somewhere around a .95 so this is very far off from being a way to determine how a person is accurately
My index finger is longer and I'm a guy :tinfoil:
short index finger
Left hand: My ring finger is longer than my index finger. Right hand: My index finger is longer than my ring finger. What the fuck [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] I must be an alien
1.02 time to get a sex change looks like im actually a woman :(
In all seriousness I'm a faggot but I have somewhere around a .95 so this is very far off from being a way to determine how a person is accurately
.95 is lower than average, hence more masculine. Go figure.
0.95ish here
To clarify, I don't personally put much stock in this research, as interesting as I do find it. Mainly because a lot of it is correlation rather than causation, and then there's the whole fact that the ratio varies greatly depending on cultural heritage. On the other hand, more and more researchers are subscribing to the theory, so who knows. Personally I can't even do the fucking measurement right. Most of the time I'm getting 0.94, but I have a very flexible index finger and a very inflexible ring finger which means if i want to i can make my ring finger appear slightly longer. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] p.s supposedly lower values are an indicator for males with attractive faces to females, but uh, Professor John Manning who is one of the leading minds in this field scored an astoundingly low ratio of something like 0.90 and this is what he looks like totally giving brad pitt a run for his money
They're almost equal, am I a transsexual or what
My 4d:penis ratio is very low, does that count?
My 4d:penis ratio is very low, does that count?
huehuehue [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
1.02 time to get a sex change looks like im actually a woman :(
Are you sure you did it right? Remember divide the INDEX by the RING finger not RING by INDEX. Doing the latter will give you a number higher than 1 in most cases. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
they are both about the same size to me.
Just out of curiosity, trying to be objective as you can, how masculine would you say you are?
huehuehue
What are you laughing at, the ratio being low means my penis is obnoxiously long.

My finger ratio between the index and ring fingers are the exact opposite of that picture and I'm pretty sure I'm straight, so no :v:
wtf is all this shit
.91
are you saying i've got a tiny dick
No. We know that. Also, it seems I am one of those lucky men. Ladies :smug: ?
i cut off my ring finger what now bitch
Clean out your keyboard good lord
Do you know what's an even better test to see what your sexual preference is? Whom are you more attracted to A B If you are Male A) Heterosexual B) Homosexual Both) Bisexual If you are Female A) Homosexual B) Heterosexual Both) Bisexual I am all for the scientific study of brain composition to body proportion but this exercise seems rather foolhardy. I may be wrong though, but it seems there are way too many variables when measuring millimeters of difference between body parts you are constantly manipulating.
I scored .901
1.02

Everyone has preferences and you cant define someone elses mental sexuality, only their physical.
Everyone has preferences and you cant define someone elses mental sexuality, only their physical.
Can you clarify this? Specifically the difference between mental sexuality and physical sexuality?
imo BS because in my opinion that girl isnt very attractive, but Im not attracted to guys. Everyone has preferences and you cant define someone elses mental sexuality, only their physical.
I don't think the guy is very attractive but I'm not attracted to girls.

Pretty sure if you aren't into guys you'd answer A, regardless of how you feel she looks :downs:
