• Man opens shop in back of car to sell sweets outside schools

Parents and teachers have accused a rogue trader of cashing in on childhood obesity after he set up a fully-stocked sweet shop in the boot of his car, which he then parked outside a school. I was expecting some kind of paedophilia story but this man is a genius :v:
Look at all those poor obese children swarming his car! Terrible, simply terrible!
I expected a totally different reaction than "cashing in on childhood obesity"
Look at all those poor obese children swarming his car! Terrible, simply terrible!
They're so obese that the camera can only capture their big fat pixelated heads.
This is exactly what I expected.
if this was in the states he'd be in guantanamo faster than you can say "allahu ackbar"
Finally a use for a Wagon R.

It's a pretty good method, I would imagine he makes a large amount of money from it. I know when I was at school people would swam the local shops nearby and buy sweets and other bits and bobs
Probably more healthy than what schools are trying to sell kids to eat.

Prior to children apparently having no self control and sugar being up there with cocaine in terms of dangerous substances, some Ice Cream Trucks would do this during the colder months where I am, so its not really that crazy to me. Still, its a sad time when kids have to resort to buying sugary stuff from the back of a car. Sad for whatever reason other than obviously money that this guy is doing that, and sad that kids are actually buying it.
Maybe if schools didn't get caught up in the 'Jamie Oliver's School Dinners' craze and actually continued to sell food that children like then they wouldn't buy buying sweets from a dodgy bloke outside the school gates.

While I'm all for kids having better, healthy food in schools I recall calling him "The Food Nazi" due to how overly strict he came off.
Is it simply sad that its candy from the back of a car, or is the concept of a mobile snack stand sad?
Sad about candy from the back of a car. Like I said, Ice Cream Trucks used to do pretty much the same thing a good while ago, so a mobile snack stand isn't sad or odd to me.
Are Ice Cream vans banned now or something? There was always an Ice Cream van parked outside both my primary and secondary schools. This is pretty much the same. I'm assuming he already has a shop, but just takes some stock out with him for this.
Let's take a minute and think about how there are people getting mad over someone selling candy
Wonder how outraged they'd be when there's a Morrisons supermarket about 100 metres from my old school. Some people, typically 6th form, used to make a tidy profit with a few cans of coke and packs of Haribo in their bags. The school canteen actually was pretty great (the food was all prepared on site, and was actually good) though, so few people ate too many sweets. I mean, seriously, what's the difference between a guy in a car right outside, and a nearby supermarket? The supermarket sells you more for less. The guy's arguably leading to less sugar consumption!
I can't say I'm suprised, most schools in this country basically feed the pupils prison loaf.
Let's take a minute and think about how there are people getting mad over someone selling candy
Well I can see where they're coming from. The area has a 40% obesity rate for children and they've had situations like this in the past.
If they are so worried about kids becoming obese why not actually turn the lunchcards into something which also moderates the intake of carbs, calories, and sugar and salts. That way, kids can say have a small cheeseburger with some fries, and actually not feel bad about screwing up their diet. Oh and at the same time they are not forced to eat inserts from Jamie Oliver's new book - How to Force Children to Eat food that's not even served in our Prisons! You will not win a war against obesity unless you start to make kids conscious of what they eat and consume. Likewise you shouldn't make them feel like shit for wanting to have a nice cheeseburger or turkey twizzler once in a long while.

Oh man, that reminds me of my high school. You know how in parks you sometimes have these vans that sell drinks and snacks? Every day, from 15:55 to 16:30, that same guy parked his van in front of the school gates and sold warm waffles or ice cream, depending on the weather, plus the usual assortment of drinks and chips. He must've made a killing off those kids grabbing a snack on the way to the bus stop.
Eh... what? Are school cafeterias unheard of there? Failing that, how many yards away could the closes convenience store possibly be?
I wonder who owns that shop... (User was permabanned for this post ("Gimmick" - SteveUK))
I wonder who owns that shop...
that avatar that post oh boy :v:
Is this legal? For him to be a street vendor? Do they need license to sell stuff?
I would of loved to have a sweet shop out the back of a car at my old school. I ate loads of sweets in School and was underweight till I turned 19.
