Hey!
Me, 2 other animators, a director, a music composer, an audio engineer, a voiceactor and the dudes at DotaCinema sat down and made a Saxxy entry for Best Drama!
Before you is the result of 1 ½ months of constant pressure, balancing this alongside our jobs, hobbies and life!
You can vote for it here if you like it : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=317940765
And here's the video itself:

Enjoy <3
that is very impressive animation!
edit:
why disagree :c
That was awesome. Damn awesome.
Coming from someone who never played DOTA 2, I was able to understand what this character does / is in this video, but still with a sense of mystery.
Nice job!
Loved the low laugh in the end.
The voice was kind of off i think
I liked that barnacle gun sound when he was eating the body, brought back memories.

That baby right there.

it was too clear compared to the rest of the audio. sounds like someone whos doing a voice over or dub.
Voting has actually started now, we accidentally made this public a biiit early.
But yeah!

Thank you! I mostly did the Shopkeeper and a little bit of the birds, the rest was by Hypo and Pandamobile!

I realized that a bit late in, I'd have brought it up with our mixer otherwise.
I like how even when the models and textures aren't that great, the animation alone makes it all worth it
I removed his staff! Contributions!
Only thing that bothered me was how the voice actor would trail into that croaky voice after every sentence.
You have any plans to make one about Rubick? He has the potential for the most fun one I think.
Get a better voice actor to play the Shopkeeper and you're golden. I don't really see any other ways of improving this/future videos.
Best way to describe it is that it was either the voice actor or the audio editing but one of the two or both made the voice feel unauthentic

I'd definetely love to make more like this, although it would take a lot longer to do so - and given that we had a time constraint for this, if we do make more we won't be under one, giving us more time to work and make it better.
I think it'd be neat to make more, question is if the others would be on board!

There's a lot of negative comments about the shopkeeper, which is a shame. I think he did a great job, and we worked with what we could get. Given the backlash on that I'd be surprised if he'd want to make more videos at all.
On that note, the audio mixing was fine - the issue was none of us brought up that it sounded like the shopkeeper was speaking into a microphone a few inches away instead of giving it an atmospheric "in the space" feeling. If we make more, we'll definetely keep that in mind though!

Yeah I think that might be it. He wasn't a bad voice actor, it was just that feeling of presence wasn't there like you're saying. I did enjoy the video though.
The beginning and everything was really good.
At places you can see it's amateur, plus I think the colorful bodies of Drow & DP were kinda out of place in the Butcher's "bone yard" aaaand of course the voice acting which is not professional level and edited etc like in Valve's Secret Shop. But good stuff.
I thought the voice acting was fine honestly. Maybe I'm just not good at noticing small audio issues but I didn't see a problem with it.

Well, it is their final for the Saxxy Awards so IDK why I even gave criticism, not like they're gonna improve/edit this particular video anymore. Not that it's needed, it's pretty good.
That practice at work is sure paying off, isn't it?
If you animated the shopkeeper, I honestly feel like saying it's a notch above the other anims I saw on your YT channel

We decided that if Valve ever release high-quality Dota models we might just remake this with those.
But thanks <3

Seriously, getting actual work experience is really helpful for my spare time projects. I've become a lot more self-critical, which has helped a lot. I haven't really made a video since I started working (not properly anyway), so this is pretty much the first time I get to use that work experience. :D
