A new reality show in the Czech Republic has let a family of seven experience what it was like living under Nazi occupation during World War II.
The Czech public broadcaster said the family members, chosen from 400 applicants, were brought back in time to March 15, 1939 — the day Hitler’s troops took over the country.
They were taken to a farm in the mountains in eastern Czech Republic, where they were filmed as they were forced to confront everyday realities of the occupation, such as hunger, persecution and Gestapo raids.
The goal was to show what common people had to get through at the time and historians and architects made sure their experience was as authentic as possible.
Hopefully none of the participants are Jews.
Sounds neat. I'd definitely watch.
That sounds so cool, I'd be willing to watch the fuck out of it.
Although, spoilers, it would be soo not prety.
Finally somebody uses reality tv in a productive and educational light. The best way to make sure that we don't forget about stuff like this is to remind people how destructive we can be.
lmao they are calling this "docureality show"
this is actually embarrassing

I had no clue the Czech TV 1 dropped this low, I haven't watched any TV broadcasting in years.
Wasn't there a reality/experimental show where they showed how would they live in Britain during ww2?

It was mostly a documentary tho iirc.

How is this low? Its neat if anything
I remember reading about something like that done in UK where they made a family go live into a 18th century house and they had to live and act like it was a 18th century. Sounded pretty cool.
This sounds way better though considering it's framed during the occupation which. I REALLY hope they won't bugger it up and won't try to make some stupid retarded live show out of it. We'll see, I guess.
A reality show wherein the contestants must complete challenges whilst avoiding the Gestapo.
oh wait, that's actually what they're aiming for
It might be a little entertainment but we all know it will be absolutely fuck all on what it would have actually felt like at the time.
This could be extremely interesting but i am guessing this is going to turn out absolutely horrendous.

Haven't heard of that, but I do know that there was a mock occupation in Canada where local police and soldiers dressed up as German forces and "occupied" the town, including holding a book burning (they actually just burnt old books that were unwanted or damaged). The Channel Islands (which afaik are culturally similar to Britain) were also occupied by real Nazis, so that sent a shock through British society and led to more support for the war effort.
I'm assuming it won't be in English?
Do they get to ask the League of Nations to save them and never get an answer?
I bet it still won't be as good as the Hitler sitcom.

Sounds similar to that english show where people recreate life in victorian england, the pre war period
BBC does this stuff all the time, usually they're all right but not great.

I always found them way too twee and safe. They leave out some of the grim reality in order to preserve those 'homely feelings' and all ages timeslot.
Whatever company makes it keeps reinforcing how the only real hardships were "not having playstations and tv! lol!" and "having to catch chickens"

Better simulate it completely by killing the contestants loved ones in the most horrific way.
Decided to take a look at the first episode. Was interesting in the sense that they had no clue into what time period they actually went in and found that out from the radio.
They should do one about communists/bolsheviks next, but I suppose having all the cast be executed/sent off to Siberia on the first day wouldn't be too much of an interesting show.
finally a show where i get to be a nazi

Reintroduce smallpox onto the set, I say.
