• Racism - do minorities use the race card too often to justify their actions?

The Trayvon martin case is all over the news and various media outlets have lied and edited the story to pull on your heart strings, meanwhile Zimmerman never even used a racial slur, but yet he is still a RACIST Although in videos like this http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/assault/videotaped-baltimore-street-beating-879234?fb_comment_id=fbc_10150807056307049_23865154_10150807606332049#f1a449c9ec The minorities clearly slander him for being white and receive no mention of this on the news It is like "black" is a taboo word unless they are a victim. I was never aware that "black" was a taboo word. I'm white and I use it all the time, with both white and black friends. What other term is there to use?

I've heard of black people often using the "we're black therefore the police doesn't care about us" line a million times now, and i'm pretty sure it's happened in a few cases that the defendant, who is part of a minority, uses that as a way to justify his/her crimes.
I think if everyone ignored what race everyone else was we wouldn't really have a problem.

You mean that you haven't at least heard, " black president"?
I think white people call themselves or other people out on racism more than minorities, but I think that the media will show a minority talking about race because it's convenient. So no. [sp]But calling Fmr. Pres. Bush "President Bush" but Pres. Obama "Mister Obama" is racist as all hell[/sp] [sp]Edit: Shitstorm inbound[/sp]
The basis of this debate is a blanket statement.

Do people chat about how many good things police have done, or how many times they have helped minorities? No, because it's boring gossip.
The basis of this debate is a blanket statement.
Yep, pretty much.
The basis of this debate is a blanket statement.
This. The question in itself assumes that 1. People from minorities all act the same and they ALL either do or do not use 'the race card' to further their positions. 2. ALL people belonging to minorities commit 'actions' that require justification of some sort. (i.e. crimes or misdemeanors) Not a very smart thread, OP.
I agree, this isn't a really good thread. But I'll work with it... I was actually very fortunate to go to a school that was very diverse. We were probably 60% black, 36% white, 4% other. That's extremely diverse, especially for a Catholic school (just to clarify, when people think "Catholic" school, they're almost always thinking stereotypes). There were never any problem with racism at all. But people in society do pull race cards. Someone mentioned black people talking about how much the cops hate them. False. See, what's wrong is when people convince themselves that their race is inferior and their life is going to be much harder because of it. You get a placebo type of effect. If somebody tells themself, "My life is going to be much harder than anyone else's because I'm black," then it's going to be. I'm not saying everybody does this, but even today it seems like it happens. I love Pandas, they're so chill. They're like, "Dude, racism is stupid. I'm Black, White, and Asian. And everyone loves me. Cause I'm a panda. So stop the hate and start the love, man."
