Dr Matthew Mitchell reports. What sort of "Trade Agreement" manages to both criminalise internet use and force coal seam Fracking onto communities? The answer to this is the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a pact that has the ominous potential to achieve both these corporate objectives - and many more. Of course, we cannot know the exact effects of the TPP, as the negotiations over the past few years have been held in secret. However, two leaked chapters - out of the 26 or more under negotiation - have caused more than their fair share of concern.
The first I heard of anything like this was today, but the more I look into it the scarier it seems. http://www.wikileaksparty.org.au/why-australians-should-be-worried-about-the-tpp/
Probably the most dangerous feature of the agreement as it now stands is the introduction of an Investor State Disputes Settlement (ISDS) system, in which foreign corporations are allowed to sue countries in order to protect the profitability of their investments.
These sources may be biased, but so are most of the media outlets reporting on this because they're owned by larger international institutions who would seemingly benefit from it.
I fucking knew it would of been one of the first things he'd do. The big eared backwards cunt can go fuck right off.
I'll wait for something more solid.. but, I wouldn't put it past the Asshat.
abcpea look at what you've done
"What sort of "Trade Agreement" manages to both criminalise internet use and force coal seam Fracking onto communities? " Yes, it does sound incredibly biased
This happened to Canada, they got sued for a fracking ban due to NAFTA. It may be biased but this isn't an unrealistic claim considering the stuff secretly negotiated agreements usually contain.
not so secret anymore is it now??
Gosh, who would have guessed this would happen with a liberal government!
Let's face it, the only good thing his party has ever done was ban guns, and heck, HOWARD did that.
Let's face it, the only good thing his party has ever done was ban guns, and heck, HOWARD did that.
wtf banning guns was a bad decision
wtf banning guns was a bad decision
Don't be a complete dumbass now
wtf banning guns was a bad decision
There's been zero mass shootings and the rate of gun related murders/suicides/accidents has severely dropped. It's one of the best things to happen to this country.
does it also involve the mass import of people from PNG because i dont think tony would like that 'boat people!!1!1!'
wtf banning guns was a bad decision
Educate yourself, man.
He just wants to stop the gay boat women dammit!!!!?!
Let's face it, the only good thing his party has ever done was ban guns, and heck, HOWARD did that.
The whole gun issue in this country is so fucking stupid. Such a Nanny state, and the laws surrounding guns are so vague at times.
Banning guns does make it MUCH more difficult to acquire them. People aren't going to make homemade guns, they aren't reliable or powerful, you're more likely to hurt yourself with one. So illegalizing them helps in places where they aren't saturated as all hell.
I still don't understand the pro-gun stance. It's not like we have a history of guns like America so I don't understand how anyone would like the laws dropped.
They only issue I really have with Australian guns laws is that paintball guns and airsoft guns are counted as firearms. Which they are not.
