In the latest move by the studio as it continues to make live-action versions of its animated classics, Disney has tapped the Big Eyes helmer to take on the tale of a baby circus elephant who is made fun of for his large ears, based on the iconic 1941 film. As THR exclusively reported, Transformers franchise writer Ehren Kruger penned the script. The film will use a mix of CGI and live action to bring the classic elephant story to life and will add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo's journey. Justin Springer, who worked on Tron: Legacy as well as Oblivion, is producing with Kruger.
Hollywood Reporter
This... actually sounds... umm... what?
Uh. What?
Why Burton though? Not completely objecting just kinda confused.
I don't understand
Just.....why?
"reboot" ?
I bet Johnny Depp will play as Dumbo.
What..... Seriously Why? The movie was good enough to not deserve a damn remake.
I bet Johnny Depp will play as Dumbo.
With Helena Bonham Carter as Dumbo's mom.
Reboot of what? Was there a Dumbo franchise we missed?
I think i am going to make a bingo card and put all the typical Tim Burton quirks on it.
Oh this is gonna be grim.

You'd think they would've learned their lesson after Alice.
I miss the days that I could get excited for a Tim Burton movie. All four of them.
Atleast it wasn't Micheal Bay tho :v:.
So how nightmare-ish will the new pink elephant sequence be?
WHY is it that I can see this completely throwing away the source material and ending up pretty much that awful Marmaduke movie, only with an elephant and set in a circus? Is my faith in things that poor that I read "beloved animated/comic strip/etc is being made into a live action film" and immediately think the worst or have they practically all just been that bad?
This is like giving Care Bears to David Lynch.
Tim Burton is awesome. I have confidence in him and his films but, Dumbo? I'll have to see where this is going.
I bet Johnny Depp will play as Dumbo.
Tim Burton himself could play Dumbo, I'm sure, no make-up necessary
What..... Seriously Why? The movie was good enough to not deserve a damn remake.
Disney has a crap ton of live action remakes of classic disney animated films due to the success of Once Upon a Time. Maleficent was the first of these many movies.
